The ideal candidate will have a deep commitment to safety and strive for excellence in all areas of their work. Experience with safely operating and troubleshooting process equipment such as pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, separators etc., as well as process instrumentation including level, pressure, and temperature transmitters, flow meters, and gas analyzers is preferred. The Quad Gen plant produces 1) heat and 2) power (combined heat and power, or “CHP”) plus provides 3) cooling, and 4) liquified CO2 to the LCCB facility.  This Quad Gen plant will have two natural gas fired engines that produce electrical power and heat to be used in on-site processes. CO2 will be captured from a portion of the exhaust gas and liquefied and purified to meet beverage grade specifications.

Requirements

  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems in the context of power generation or chemical production.
  • Experience reading processes and technical drawings related to power generation facilities and / or chemical production facilities (i.e. P&IDs or circuit diagrams).
  • Safety driven mindset, with proficiency in the LOTO process.
  • Proficiency in communicating efficiently and thoroughly with team members, supervision / management, and external organizations under both normal (e.g., shift change) and emergency conditions.
  • Proficient in following operating procedures / guidelines, safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Ability to be on your feet for sustained periods, ability to climb up to 50 feet, and the ability to push, pull, or lift, up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to learn how to operate and become comfortable with previously unfamiliar computer-based systems.
  • Ability to train others to operate the plants (once up-to-speed)
  • A commitment to good housekeeping (facility cleanliness and organization)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with or knowledge of amine gas sweetening and/or CO2 capture processes.
  • Experience with or knowledge of refrigeration and CO2 liquefaction and storage processes including CO2 product purity analyses.
  • Experience with or knowledge of molecular sieve dehydration systems.
  • Experience as an operator or trade worker in a: o Power generation facility OR o Gas processing, refining, or chemical plant.
  • Experience creating safe operating procedures for startup, normal operations, upset conditions, normal shutdowns, emergency shutdowns, etc.
  • Associate’s or technical degree in a mechanical or chemical trade, i.e. HVAC technician, laboratory technician.
  • Ability to recognize and analyze changes in data trends to recommend corrective actions to avoid lengthy unplanned shutdowns.
  • Experience operating DCS/PLC-based control systems.
  • Operator certification (e.g., NERC).
  • Safety training (e.g., 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER).

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor power generation equipment.
  • Control Quad Gen processes through DCS/SCADA systems to maintain stable operation.
  • Perform routine plant walkdowns (make rounds) to monitor equipment, recording operating parameters when applicable.
  • Start up, shut down, and adjust Quad Gen systems according to operational guidelines and specifications.
  • Transfer chemicals into and out of units (e.g., make-up amine, de-inventorying for maintenance, etc.).
  • Monitor absorber/regenerator performance, solvent quality, and circulation rates.
  • Monitor CO2 quality and adjust CO2 capture and purification equipment parameters to meet CO2 purity and rate specifications.
  • Operate CO2 compression systems, including intercooling and molecular sieve dehydration.
  • Respond to upsets such as solvent degradation, foaming, or unit turndown conditions.
  • Isolate and tag out equipment for maintenance, drain or blow down equipment when applicable.
  • Prepare and submit accurate documentation including logs, work permits, work orders, and management of change.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and basic unscheduled repairs on plant equipment.
