About The Position

The Chiropractic Assistant plays a vital role in supporting both patients and providers in a chiropractic clinic. This position combines clinical assistance, patient care, and administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient daily operations and positive patient experience. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

  • Excellent communication skills; active listening as well as written and oral comprehension/communication skills; Gives full attention to what individuals are saying, understands the point being made, asks appropriate questions to gain better knowledge of situation(s) and repeats information to ensure understanding
  • Excellent customer service skills; actively seeking ways to assist internal and external customers within the scope of assigned duties
  • Good basic mathematical skills use a calculator or other means to accurately figure all transactions
  • Good computer skills; Outlook, Windows, Microsoft Office applications; EMR exposure preferred
  • Good time management skills: self-evaluates the use of time and understands how others may be affected
  • Cultural diversity awareness and skills; respects all people regardless of race, nationality or social standing
  • Ability to work independently (self-motivating) and as a team member
  • Ability to develop a collaborative therapeutic alliance with individuals and make accurate professional judgments

  • Familiarity with local community resources for patients with chronic disease
  • Knowledge of health promotion and disease prevention methods related to routine health care and teaching methods designed to address the needs of patients with chronic, disabling health conditions
  • Familiarity with Patient-Centered-Medical-Home concepts
  • Problem sensitivity skills; empathetic/understanding
  • Deductive reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • 1 to 2 years clinical experience; medical office experience preferred but not required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a Medical Assistant role, is a plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) language skills helpful

Responsibilities

  • Assist the chiropractor during patient visits and therapeutic procedures
  • Managing patient cases, questions and concerns, and directing them to appropriate staff.
  • Process referrals and schedule appointments in a timely manner.
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations as needed.
  • Answer phones, respond to messages, and manage general office correspondence
  • Fax, scan, and organize medical documents and patient files.
  • Request medical records as directed by chiropractor.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all applicable healthcare regulations
  • Oversee and manage the inventory of chiropractic-related supplies
  • Ensure the clinic is clean and organized before and after each patient encounters to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Under direct supervision of the chiropractor, assist in the delivery therapy services.
  • Document the patient’s chief complaint, obtain vital signs, and assess current level of pain, suffering and disability using questionnaires and numeric rating scale.
  • Monitor patient progress by regularly updating and reviewing questionnaires.
  • Address patient questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism
  • Prepare treatment rooms and ensure they are fully equipped and ready for patient care.
  • Demonstrate cultural diversity awareness by recognizing, respecting, and valuing differences among individuals from various cultural backgrounds, fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for all patients and team members. Addressing any barriers to delivering high quality chiropractic care, connecting patients to resources and services as appropriate.
  • Practice trauma-informed care by recognizing the signs of trauma, understanding its impact on patients, and creating a safe, supportive environment that promotes healing and respects the emotional and psychological needs of each patient. Connecting patients to qualified team members as appropriate.
