About The Position

CHINESE LANGUAGE IMMERSION TEACHER St. Louis Language Immersion Schools, Inc. in St. Louis, Missouri seeks 3 full-time Chinese Language Immersion Teachers to plan Chinese language immersion instruction for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade (elementary and middle school) in core courses such as Social Studies, Science, and/or English and Math appropriate to the abilities and cultural background of students; create and organize classroom rules, procedures, and routines; manage student behavior to ensure student learning; establish a culture of high expectations, diversity, cultural sensitivity, and understanding; establish clear content and language objectives for all lessons, units, and projects; provide differentiated instruction as needed; maintain ongoing communication with students and parents about the student’s level of instruction, academic progress, and/or deficiencies; evaluate student progress regularly; represent the School and program to the School district, county, state, and/or federal community groups; interact with outside agencies as necessary; teach Summer classes if necessary; and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Education, Language and Literacy, or a closely related field
  • Near native fluency in spoken and written Chinese and English
  • A license to teach in Missouri or other state (Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, K-6, or K-8) or the ability to teach in the country in which the teacher received his or her training is also required

  • Maintain ongoing communication with students and parents about the student’s level of instruction, academic progress, and/or deficiencies
  • Evaluate student progress regularly
  • Represent the School and program to the School district, county, state, and/or federal community groups
  • Interact with outside agencies as necessary
  • Teach Summer classes if necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned
