About The Position

As a primary contact for Safeway customers, the China Express Supervisor provides friendly, courteous and helpful service. This role is responsible for the preparation, quality, and quantity of food prepared in the China Express area of the delicatessen. Duties include obtaining supplies from storage, cooler, or freezer areas, and cleaning shelves, range tops, work areas, and dishes. The supervisor uses pots, pans, woks, and other cooking implements to prepare and cook food, following recipes for items being prepared. This involves mixing and preparing sauces and other seasonings and adding them to dishes at the appropriate time. Prepared items are then placed in China Express cases in the delicatessen. The supervisor also removes boxes and other trash, orders and inventories merchandise and supplies, and oversees the work of China Express Cook(s).

Requirements

Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
Ability to read prices, forms, recipes, and tags.
Ability to work independently when necessary.
Ability to understand and follow directions.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of authentic Chinese cooking and techniques.

Responsibilities

Follows recipes to prepare and cook food.
Cuts, chops, slices, and cleans meat and produce in preparation for cooking.
Assists with service at the counter as needed.
Maintains cleanliness of food preparation area.
Retrieves supplies from storage areas, coolers, and freezers.
May write order.
Other duties as assigned.
Oversees the work of the China Express Cook(s).
