About The Position

Lion Country Safari is currently accepting applications for the position of Keeper II/III for our Chimpanzee routine. This is a full-time position. We are seeking a skilled, energetic individual to join our wildlife team. You must demonstrate leadership in your role and provide input and expertise in support of Lion Country Safari’s mission statement. Our Chimpanzee area is currently home to chimpanzees and white-handed gibbons.

Requirements

regularly required to bend, stand, walk, climb, balance, throw, and lift
Must be able to swim
possess a valid Florida driver’s license
lift 50 pounds
work weekends/holidays
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment drug screen, background check, and physical.

Nice To Haves

at least 2 years of primate experience at an AZA accredited institution
chimpanzee experience is extremely preferred
A degree in an animal-related field is preferred, but equivalent combinations of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job will be considered.

Responsibilities

all facets of animal husbandry, including training, animal observations, enrichment, and reporting any abnormalities in behavior or medical needs
maintaining primate habitats and holdings
identifying maintenance issues in need of correction or repair
prepare animal health records
follow prescribed primate diets
strictly adhere to safety protocols
