About The Position
The ChildWatch Coordinator is responsible for the supervision and program implementation of the ChildWatch and Parents’ Morning Out programs that provides care for children from ages 6 weeks to 5 years of age. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Sound working knowledge of child development principles.
- Organizational skills.
- Ability to develop and implement age-appropriate activities for program participants.
- Ability to develop and implement daily staff work schedules.
- Ability to foster positive staff, parent, and child relations.
- Ability to supervise multiple part-time staff.
- CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Supervision of ChildWatch staff including scheduling and performance evaluations
- Develop and implement activity structure and content for ChildWatch and Parents’ Morning Out
- Supervise and interact positively and appropriately with members’ children
- Ensure that all children have a safe and fun experience
- Provide general cleaning of toys, equipment, and room after every shift
- Accurately record attendance of children and report to parents’ pertinent information
- Reporting of safety issues, attendance numbers and general needs of the programs
- Preventing incidents of child abuse, identifying incidents of abuse, and reacting properly when they occur
- Scheduling coverage for room on a day-to-day basis
- Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service
- Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA
- Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants
