About The Position

Since 1993, The Pathfinder Network (TPN) has been providing justice-system impacted individuals and their families the tools and support they need to be safe and thrive in our communities. We serve individuals experiencing incarceration, those reentering the community, those on forms of community supervision, their families, and their children, within 9 of Oregon’s 11 corrections facilities and in the community in Multnomah, Jackson, Marion, and Clackamas Counties. We develop and deliver a comprehensive scope of evidence-based, trauma-, gender- and culturally-responsive cognitive behavioral-based programs, including our proprietary, evidence-based curriculum Parenting Inside Out, which is the highest-rated parenting skills curriculum for parents involved with the criminal justice system. Our community programs feature holistic wraparound individual and group support and services. We serve an average of 3,000 people a year agency-wide. The Children’s Activities Provider supervises, leads hands-on, prepares and provides activities, and monitors the safety for children (ages 6 weeks and up), during parenting classes and family events.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience in the care of infants and/or small children (paid or unpaid), ages 6 weeks and older
  • Basic level computer capabilities in use of databases, web-based environments, word processing, email, and spreadsheets.
  • Must pass a background check, employment verification, and drug screen (which does not include testing for marijuana).

Responsibilities

  • Create and provide structured activities and care for children ages 6 weeks and up during classes and family events.
  • Set up children’s activities room prior to each class and family engagement event. Set up includes vacuuming and wiping down tables, chairs, and toys when needed.
  • Assist with class preparation and setting out of meals.
  • Provide back up for meal preparation, as needed.
  • Keep children’s activities room clean and orderly, and clean room at the end of each shift.
  • Assist with closing the Center after each shift, which includes taking trash out, putting food away, and locking doors.
  • Assist with taking inventory of children's activities materials and keeping pantry organized and clean.
  • Maintain notes for each evening of children's activities and communicate important information to Children’s Activity Team.
  • Assists with preparing materials and supplies for classes and other services provided to participants and families.
  • Maintain professional standards and boundaries.
  • Engage in compassionate, professional, and client-oriented behavior in carrying out the duties of the position.
  • Attend staff meetings and required training.
  • Act as a mandatory reporter of child abuse.
  • Assist Family Support Coordinator, as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
