About The Position

POSITION: CHILDCARE CENTER SUBSTITUTES (ON CALL) LOCATIONS: (North Dade area- to cover 2 possible sites within 2 miles of 33169) When: Monday thru Friday, minimum of 4 hours per shift, on call, as needed (can be as early as a 7:30am shift start, or as late as ending shift at 5:30pm) Rate of Pay: $16.50 per hour, ON CALL only, no benefits Requires DCF Childcare 45 training hours certification; and high school diploma DCF 45 hours childcare training part 1 and 2 required to be completed; High School diploma or GED required, Hired with an 18-month contingency; New employee MUST be willing to take CDA coursework paid by funder while employed as an On Call Substitute after Introductory period. Failure to continue and complete CDA coursework towards credential will not meet requirement for continuous permanent employment. Responsible for assisting teacher with implementing daily learning activities, nurturing the children and managing and maintaining the Early Head Start or Head Start classroom and its equipment and supplies, establishes and maintains supportive relationships with infants, toddlers, and parents and implementing developmentally appropriate routines and curriculum for infants and toddlers while covering any classroom assigned.
Requirements
- DCF 45 hrs. training certificates required; High School diploma or GED
- DCF 45 hours childcare training required to be completed or waiting for competency exam only; High School diploma or GED required
- Hired with an 18-month contingency; pipeline into regular job opportunities, MUST be willing to take CDA coursework paid by funder while employed as Substitute after Introductory period.
- Red Cross First Aid & CPR certificate; certificate of good health and completed TB test required; 15 hours in-service training annually thereafter; requires fingerprints, level 2 criminal background check, and drug test

Responsibilities
- Plan and implement individualized, developmentally appropriate, nurturing care for infants and toddlers in a center-based setting
- Coordinate use of community resources to enrich the learning environment
- Support program philosophy that parents are the primary educators and nurturers of their children
- Enhance the relationship of parents and their children by encouraging parent participation
- Oversee and assist with classroom cleanup and follow universal precautions daily
- Assist children in transitioning beginning and end of each day and during field trips
- Maintain program standards regarding confidentiality and professional boundaries
