About The Position

The Childcare Caregiver 2 at Killington Resort plays a vital role in providing nurturing, high-quality care for children in our resort childcare center. This position is responsible for the direct care of children ages 4 months to 6 years, creating engaging experiences for both our employee and local families with recurring care needs and guests visiting our mountain resort. The ideal caregiver combines a passion for child development with the ability to create a safe, fun environment that allows parents to enjoy their Killington experience with peace of mind. The childcare center is open 7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 7-days/week December-March and Monday-Friday April-November. Employees in this position receive free childcare for their dependent children on days they are working.

Requirements

  • Meet minimum qualifications for a Teacher Assistant per Vermont DCF regulations. Email [email protected] for information or assistance assessing your qualifications.
  • Certified in pediatric first aid and in infant and child CPR
  • 1 year experience working with children in grade 3 or younger
  • Genuine enjoyment of and respect for children
  • Ability to pass comprehensive background check
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, sit on floor, and actively engage with children
  • Clear communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Reliability, patience, and positive attitude
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays during peak resort seasons
  • Creativity in developing age-appropriate activities

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, responsive care to children in assigned room or groups
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating environment for all children
  • Assist with daily routines including activities, meals, naps, diaper changes, and bathroom breaks
  • Support children's social-emotional development through positive guidance techniques
  • Adapt activities to meet the individual needs and interests of children
  • Learn, understand, and consistently adhere to all Vermont childcare licensing regulations and standards in daily practice
  • Build positive relationships with both recurring families and vacation guests
  • Communicate effectively about children's daily experiences, needs, and achievements
  • Provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere for parents during drop-off and pick-up
  • Address parent questions and concerns professionally, referring complex issues to room leads or supervisors
  • Assist in preparing, implementing, and cleaning up after activities
  • Document children's attendance, meals, naps, and other required information
  • Maintain appropriate ratios and group sizes according to Vermont regulations
  • Support seasonal and special programming related to mountain resort experiences
  • Help maintain organization of supplies, toys, and equipment
  • Contribute ideas for program improvement and enhancement
  • Work cooperatively with other caregivers and room leads
  • Communicate effectively about children's needs during shift changes
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Assist with daily cleaning tasks and help maintain the overall cleanliness and organization of the facility
