Program: SBCS Corporation operates a 24/7 year-round confidential, emergency shelter program for victims of domestic violence and their children. Services include 24-hour emergency shelter, food, transportation, 24-hour crisis hotline, psychological support and peer counseling, referrals to community resources, and community education and outreach. Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Childcare Provider shall be responsible for providing services and support for women who have experienced domestic violence and their children. Services will be consistent with the agency’s goals, objectives, mission and style.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED and 1 year of experience in a similar position.
  • Experience working with children in a daycare or other childcare related setting.
  • Knowledge of child development.
  • Bilingual — English and Spanish required.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of domestic violence is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nurturing, compassionate, developmentally appropriate, and supportive care to children.
  • Care for and actively supervise children during childcare hours.
  • Be aware of children(s) special circumstances (e.g., health concerns, peak stress time, emotional difficulties…etc.)
  • Maintain contact with the children’s parents and contact them in the case of an emergency.
  • Plan and facilitate educational age-appropriate activities for children (infants, toddlers, pre-school age and school age children)
  • Communicate with parents about the behavior of their children.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the childcare room.
  • As a mandated reporter, should be able to report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the relevant authorities as required by law.
  • Ensure that sign-in sheets are correctly maintained and submitted to the Program Coordinator in a timely fashion.
  • Attend and actively participate in Team meetings and trainings as required.
  • Attend all agency required meetings and trainings.
  • Ability to communicate critical incidents to supervisor.
  • As other duties assigned.
