Requirements
- For RNs, to teach Childbirth Education programming (Prepared Childbirth Series, Welcoming Baby, Labor Comfort Measures) a minimum three years of recent/current clinical experience in OB for nurses. Labor and Delivery clinical experience preferred.
- For Certified Childbirth Educators (non-RN) to teach Childbirth Education programming (Prepared Childbirth Series, Welcoming Baby, Labor Comfort Measures)- a Minimum of three years of Childbirth Education teaching experience.
- Evidence of training and/or experience in teaching techniques.
- Graduate of approved school of nursing OR certification through a nationally recognized organization is required in classes taught by non-RNs.
- Baccalaureate degree required to teach non-prepared childbirth education classes, if not an RN.
- A current RN license to practice in Pennsylvania or class specialty certification (childbirth education, The Happiest Baby) required.
- PR Certification Required (BLS or AHA Heart Saver)
- Childbirth Instructors who are hired to teach Specialty Classes: Lactation and The Happiest Baby certification is required prior to teaching.
Nice To Haves
- Labor and Delivery clinical experience preferred.
- Membership in related field professional organization preferred.
- Certification in specialty related field preferred.
