About The Position

Do you love working with kids and have a knack for keeping things fun and organized? The Kroc Center is looking for a Child Watch Attendant to provide safe, nurturing, and engaging care for children while their parents or guardians participate in Kroc programs and events. You’ll play a key role in creating a positive, energetic environment for kids, developing activities that entertain, teach, and inspire. Flexibility is important for this role, with primary shifts scheduled Monday–Thursday from 3:00–8:00 PM, Fridays from 3:00–7:00 PM, and every other Saturday from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM. This position works up to 18 hours per week and pays $15.96 per hour, with an additional $1.00 per hour shift differential for all shifts worked from 4:00 PM Friday through Sunday. The Child Watch Attendant will be responsible for the nurture and supervision of all children participating in the temporary on-site care offered by the RJKCCC. The Child Watch Attendant will develop activities to entertain, teach, and mentor young children while their parents / guardians participate in Kroc programs and events.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 1 year of relevant work experience with children.
  • First Aid, CPR and AED Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule.
  • Ability to address multiple projects in a timely manner while being responsive and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Exercise good judgment in personal actions.
  • Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office products, e-mail, and Internet.

Responsibilities

  • Patiently supervise multiple children.
  • Communicate effectively with children and parents / guardians.
  • Handle difficult situations with speed, tact and fairness.
  • Maintain a high level of enthusiasm.
  • Organize and execute age appropriate activities for children both individually and in groups.
  • Assist in the cleaning of toys and other materials used in the Fun Depot.
  • Maintain a safe environment for staff and participants.
  • Able to work nights and weekends.
  • Attend meetings as directed by supervisor.
