About The Position

The Child Support Specialist - Establishment utilizes critical thinking to establish, modify, enforce, and collect Child Support obligations by making decisions for an optimal outcome for each individual case while following Colorado and Federal guidelines. SCHEDULE: This position generally operates on either a four-day work week (Monday-Thursday), or a five-day work week (Monday-Friday). This position is hybrid, with some in-office work, as required due to trainings and/or staff meetings. Please note during training, all work will be required to be completed in-office. Flexible schedule and remote work eligibility will be determined by supervisor based on work performance. COMPENSATION: Hiring Range: $26.00 – $28.00 USD Hourly Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills. Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • Experience: 3 years of work-related experience in comprehensive case management and a high-volume customer service position or working with a complex computer system.
  • Certifications/Licenses: None
  • Note an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
  • A valid Colorado driver’s license is required for positions that drive on County Business in either a county or personal vehicle within 30-days of hire or beginning to serve as an intern or volunteer for every position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus but not necessary.

  • Ability to problem solve by using critical thinking and utilizing resources/researching to find solutions that are best for the family and the department.
  • High level organizational and time management skills and thrives with strict deadlines.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt communication based on level of program knowledge of the audience.
  • Able to learn more than one complex computer system and is patient in the learning process.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a caseload consisting of 200-225 active establishment cases.
  • Reviewing and working various reports to ensure efficient processing of cases.
  • Tracking and reporting personal performance statistics.
  • Establishing child support and paternity orders, interpreting and applying terms of parties' private child support/maintenance orders as well as our own orders to the data management system, ACSES.
  • Holding Administrative Process Negotiation Conferences, completing Colorado Child Support Guidelines calculations, calculating assigned debt for TANF/Foster Care expenditures, gather genetic samples for testing, and submitting Reports of Paternity Determination to the Colorado Department of Vital records.
  • Maintaining written chronological history of comprehensive case management including work performed, contacts, interactions or decisions, calculations, and legal or administrative decisions.
  • Providing resources to customers and collaborating with other departments and agencies, presenting options to customers to assist them with self-sufficiency and making referrals to various community outreach programs.
  • Reporting potential fraudulent activity or possible program eligibility infractions.
  • Preparing documents and providing case notes to Attorney(s) for review and/or court hearings.
  • Providing recommendations to management for developing cost-effective and best practice methods to increase productivity, improve customer service, unit efficiency, and meet program goals.
