About The Position

Manages the daily operations of the Child Support Office by developing and implementing policies and operational procedures to ensure timely and accurate processing of child support payments, developing and implementing a case management system, monitoring legislative changes to ensure compliance, and representing the interests of Dallas County Child Support Office in interactions internally and externally. Plans and directs staff and controls activities of department to accomplish budgeted financial objectives. Management Scope: Manages approximately sixteen (16) exempt and non-exempt staff members, and accountable for approximately one million ($1,000,000) in child support payments and in excess of six thousand (6,000) cases.

Requirements

  • Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a job related field of study.
  • Five (5) years of professional work related experience, including four (4) years in a managerial capacity.
  • Skilled in the use of standard software applications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public.
  • Knowledge of child support policies, procedures and regulations, principles of management.
  • Skilled in planning, organizing and prioritizing too meet goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develops policies and procedures to ensure timely and accurate processing of child support payments, including case management oversight and enforcement to ensure that each case benefits from accurate receipt and disbursement.
  • Develops, implements and directs the procedures required to maintain the contract with the Texas Office of Attorney General for enforcement services and customer service with the state disbursement unit (SDU) and the state case registry. Works closely with the enforcement attorney staff to ensure compliance with applicable statutes related to those contracts.
  • Develops the annual budget for department operations to ensure viable funding of the department missions and goals.
  • Develops and maintains a cooperative system with the courts and enforcement services to establish accounts and monitor compliance with payment of support and fees.
  • Develops goals and acceptable cost effective methods for the department, reviews and approves financial and statistical reports, and monitors database and information systems to maintain integrity and usefulness of the system.
  • Monitors changes in legislative statutes and services to ensure compliance and appropriate reimbursement for services provided.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
