About The Position

The Oregon Department of Justice’s Division of Child Support (DCS) is seeking to hire a Child Support Case Manager (Entry) for our Bend office. Core skills to be successful as a case manager include attention to detail, consistency, and organization. This opportunity in DCS will provide you with experience to grow within the Department of Justice and expand your career path. The Bend DCS office is assigned child support cases in Crook, Deschutes, Hood River, Jefferson, Klamath, Lake, and Wasco counties. This includes the establishment, modification and enforcement of child support and health care obligations as well as the establishment of paternity. The Bend DCS office works cooperatively with two federally recognized tribes, The Confederated Tribes of Warm Spring and The Klamath Tribes along with the Crook District Attorney offices. The Oregon Child Support Program, administered by the Division of Child Support, is part of the federal child support program, which is one of the top four anti-poverty programs in the nation. Requirements

• Three (3) years of experience working with the public in person or by phone giving information about services and programs and solving customer problems/complaints. Experience must include the use of personal computers, web-based applications, and typical software such as Microsoft Office.
• OR A Bachelor's Degree may substitute for the above experience.
• Work experience is based on a 40-hour work week. (Example: 20 hours a week for one year would equal six-months of work experience.)
• Finalists must pass a comprehensive employment reference check and fingerprint-based criminal background check.
• A driver history check will be included for positions requiring state vehicle driving privileges. Adverse findings will be evaluated to determine eligibility for the position.

Responsibilities

• Review individuals’ case documents and records to determine if a child support order is needed.
• Contact agency customers and other service providers to gather information to assist in establishing paternity and to establish and enforce support orders.
• Establish, modify, enforce, and provide accounting records for child support orders by deciding needed action.
• Apply federal and state laws, rules, and agency policies and procedures.
• Verify payments are properly disbursed.
• Verify accuracy of any state agency claims against child support.
• Request, review, and evaluate paternity declarations to initiate action.
• Complete and file legal documents to establish paternity.
• Process modification requests.
• Gather wage and health care information, research and apply child support guidelines to calculate support obligation.
