About The Position

The Department of Community Resources (DCR) through its Community Resource Center, supports the core departments of Mecklenburg County Health and Human Services (HHS) in doing their business through an integrated service delivery model of subject-matter experts from each core department and community partners who provide services to County residents in our HHS Community Resource Center. In addition, DCR is responsible for administering Child Support Services, Economic Services, MeckSuccess, HOMES, and Unified Workforce Development programs, as well as Integrated Health and Human Services Mail Services. Position Specific Summary The Child Support Case Coordinator position will support the Department Monday – Friday. The selected candidate will undergo a training period for the first couple of months upon acceptance of this role and successfully pass knowledge checks administered during that time. Location: 430 Stitt Road Charlotte, NC 28213 Position Summary Responsible for providing professional-level case management or case coordination services for child support services purposes. This is an entry level position and will manage child support cases in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience in case management, eligibility, investigative, financial services, judiciary, or legal work that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the work.
  • Associates degree in Business Administration, Human Services, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or another relevant field.
  • May require a valid North Carolina or South Caroline Driver's License
  • May need to obtain and maintain a valid Mecklenburg County Vehicle Operator’s Permit
  • Knowledge of The Child Support Services Program and applicable legal procedures
  • Knowledge of Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations
  • Knowledge of Legal documents; civil/family court legal procedures
  • Knowledge of Case management principles
  • Knowledge of Multiple social service programs (consolidated human services environment)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Services, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or another relevant field is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, prepare, organize, and enforce child support orders in accordance with program requirements
  • Monitor court-ordered payments to determine what action to take when the absent parent is in out of compliance with court order
  • Mediate out of court, schedules for court and monitors cases for compliance
  • Establish voluntary and judicial paternity and support
  • Establish, modify and enforce child support orders, prepare cases for legal action and support orders by analyzing, monitoring, and reconciling accounts
  • Prepare cases for legal action, including providing direct support to agency attorney in court; testifies in court and documents court disposition into the automated system
  • Provide financial management of support orders by analyzing, monitoring and reconciling accounts
  • May be required to staff shelters in the event of a disaster
