About The Position

The Child Supervision Support Staff provides temporary, limited supervision of clients’ children while the parent is participating in treatment services at Fellowship Recovery. This role exists solely to ensure the health and safety of children for short durations and is operated under the child care licensure exemption in accordance with Minn. Stat. §245G.19, subd. 5 and Minn. Stat. §245A.03, subd. 2(a)(6). This position does not provide child care services, education, or programming and does not replace parental supervision. Supervision is limited to less than three (3) hours per day, and the parent must remain in the same building or a contiguous building at all times. The Child Supervision Support Staff has limited authority focused solely on maintaining the safety and well-being of children during designated supervision periods. This role may independently monitor children, respond to minor safety concerns, and initiate emergency procedures when necessary. This position does not have authority to provide clinical services, implement behavioral interventions beyond safety redirection, or make decisions related to treatment, discipline, or program policy. All concerns, incidents, or deviations from expected conditions must be promptly escalated to supervisory staff. This position involves in-person supervision within designated areas of licensed facilities (Perspectives location). Supervision periods are time-limited and may not exceed three (3) hours per child per day. Parent or guardian remains onsite during all supervision periods. Must be able to sit, stand, and remain alert for extended periods while supervising children. Must be able to respond quickly to safety concerns or emergencies. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary to ensure child safety. Environment may involve exposure to active, unpredictable behavior requiring attentiveness and responsiveness.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to maintain continuous supervision within sight or hearing as required
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in emergency situations
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to follow written policies, procedures, and supervision limitations
  • Must successfully complete a Minnesota DHS background study prior to hire
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Mandated Reporter Training (Minn. Stat. §260E)
  • Orientation to Fellowship Recovery policies and emergency procedures
  • All required training must be completed prior to independent supervision and maintained in the employee personnel file.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous supervision of children based on age and developmental needs
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment during supervision periods
  • Monitor children for signs of injury, illness, distress, neglect, or abuse
  • Ensure immediate and ongoing ability to contact the parent at all times
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to safety concerns or emergencies in accordance with agency protocols
  • Document supervision start and end times in accordance with program requirements
  • Complete incident reports for any injuries, safety concerns, or unusual occurrences
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and applicable data privacy laws
  • Follow all Fellowship Recovery policies and procedures
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times
  • Refrain from providing treatment, counseling, discipline, or structured child care services
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding concerns or incidents
  • Support a safe and respectful environment consistent with Fellowship Recovery values
