About The Position

The Child Safe Officer is responsible for sectors providing services to children and provides expert advice and capacity building support to organisations aimed at ensuring the services they provide meet the Child Safe Standards. We are seeking a motivated and resilient person to: Undertake activities including hosting sector meetings, meeting face-to-face with organisations, and webinars, to educate and increase awareness of the WWCC, children's employment, the Specialised Substitute Residential Care Code of Practice and Child Safe Standards and the importance of being child safe. Provide concise advice and accurate information to organisations and other stakeholders regarding the Child Safe Standards, the Working with Children Check (WWCC), Specialised Substitute Residential Care Code of Practice and the children's employment legislation. Assess an organisation's ability to apply the Child Safe Standards, provide guidance and advice to the organisation’s representatives, and manage case load using basic project management methodology.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as influence and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply legislation is strongly preferred.
  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations or willing to undergo studies to achieve certification.
  • All roles associated with the Office of the Children's Guardian are required to have a current Working with Children Check.
  • Employment at the Office of the Children’s Guardian is subject to the satisfactory completion of security and vetting checks.
  • The role also requires a current driver’s licence as there is travel associated with this role.
