Requirements

  • Master's in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education, educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master’s in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies or family and consumer studies OR The equivalent.
  • Experience in college teaching in the areas of child development and/or family studies.
  • Ability to instruct and motivate students with differing needs and abilities from a variety of academic, cultural, socioeconomic, linguistic, disability, gender, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Experience in coordinating and overseeing programs serving children and families.
  • Experience as a classroom teacher in an early childhood setting.
  • Evidence of involvement with professional and community related projects and organizations.
  • Evidence of experience using technology during teaching (Online, Hybrid).

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs, courses and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support advancement of the visions, missions and values of the college and District.
  • Instructors may be assigned a combination of day, evening, and week-end courses offered by a college strongly committed to the "open door" concept serving a diverse student population.
  • Instructors will be expected to perform other duties consistent with their faculty job description as stated in the faculty contract , including possible assignment as coordinator of the campus child development center.
