About The Position

An Early Childhood Assistant Teacher must be a team player, enthusiastic, and nurturing. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working with preschoolers. Monday through Friday position, approximately 20 hours a week. Up to 35-42 weeks a year, depending on the classroom.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old
• Have a high school diploma or GED
• Annually maintain current CPR and first aid certification
• Maintains a positive working relationship with parents/guardians and staff
• Discretion with confidential information
• Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and administrative guidelines
• Must be able to pass a criminal history and childcare background check

Responsibilities

• Provide support to one/all of the following departments; Nursery, Preschool, Full Day Childcare
• Assist in the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises in compliance with the curriculum for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom goals and objectives
• Follow the directions of supervising teacher
• Assist students individually or in small groups
• Assist in the supervision of students during daily instructional activities
• Assist in managing student discipline through the use of positive reinforcement strategies
• Respect the confidentiality of the teacher, students, and parents
• Maintain a working knowledge of school routines, emergency procedures, and school discipline policy
• Perform other related duties as assigned
