The Early Learning Centers of Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows are excited to roll out a new employment opportunity funded by the state of NV: Apprentice Teacherships. Because this program is funded by a state-funded workforce development grant, the state does require that participants be 24 years of age or younger. In these positions, you’ll have the opportunity to move from class to class, supporting children and teachers alike, as you develop into an early childhood educator in a workplace inspired by GREAT values--Generosity, Respect, Encouragement, Accountability, and Trustworthiness--places where every child feels safe and connected and where you can be sure you’re making a difference. This opportunity requires participants to work 30 hours a week, with shifts from 9am to 3pm or 10am to 4pm, Monday through Friday, as well as to commit to completing early childhood professional development and workforce development outside of your scheduled 30 hours. Our students range from 6 weeks to 5 years and are generally grouped into six age-based classes, but participants will rotate through classrooms. You’ll get support from a full and engaged admin team, including directors that don’t hesitate to roll up their sleeves and change a diaper or to address incidents and behavior with parents. Applicants with a desire to commit themselves to early childhood as a career or who have taken child development courses in high school will receive preference, but no experience is required.
