About The Position

We are seeking a Chief Technology Officer to lead both of our business divisions: Everfi and ComplyEQ. Reporting to the COO with a dotted line to the CEO, you will serve as the enterprise technology authority, shaping the future of a mission-driven, AI-forward EdTech platform at the intersection of financial literacy and education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field required; Master's degree (MBA or MS) strongly preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive technology leadership experience
  • Minimum 5–7 years in a senior executive technology role (CTO, VP Engineering, VP Technology) with Profit and Loss accountability
  • Proven track record leading technology organizations of 50+ people in high-growth SaaS environments
  • Experience modernizing legacy platforms, introducing AI / ML capabilities into SaaS products, and operating in EdTech, FinTech, or compliance-heavy industries
  • Deep expertise in SaaS architecture and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Strong command of cybersecurity frameworks, SOC 2 compliance, and information security management
  • Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) architecture and educational technology
  • Experience with DevOps, Continuous Improvement / Development (CI/CD) pipelines, Agile methodologies, and data/API architecture
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar technology budgets with accountability for ROI
  • Strong vendor management and contract negotiation skills
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence C-suite peers and board members

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in PE-backed organizations undergoing operational transformation is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Technology Strategy and Platform Leadership
  • Define and execute the enterprise technology executive vision and roadmap
  • Serve as the primary technology advisor to the executive team and board, translating complex technical concepts into clear strategic direction
  • Lead technology due diligence for cybersecurity, and potential acquisitions or partnerships as required by Private Equity ownership
  • AI, Machine Learning, and Data Innovation
  • Design and implement practical AI / ML solutions across our platform to drive digital transformation initiatives leveraging AI, automation, and emerging technologies to create competitive advantages
  • Establish scalable data pipelines and analytics frameworks to unify learner engagement data, partner data, and program impact metrics
  • Operational Excellence and Workforce Technology Optimization
  • Achieve measurable productivity gains leveraging AI tools, automation, and resource management
  • Build a scalable model that supports growth without proportional headcount increases, including optimal allocation of AI, employee, and contractor resources
  • Develop and manage annual technology budget, ensuring return on investment on technology investments and vendor spend
  • Platform Performance and Reliability
  • Ensure 99.9%+ uptime across all proprietary platforms
  • Establish and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for technology services
  • Oversee cloud infrastructure, database management, and application performance optimization
  • Cybersecurity and Compliance
  • Maintain SOC 2 Type II compliance, lead audit preparation, enforce enterprise security policies, and ensure data privacy compliance
  • Establish scalable data pipelines, executive governance, and analytics frameworks to support internal decision-making and external partner reporting
  • Implement and manage security incident response and business continuity planning
  • Cross-Functional Product Delivery
  • Partner with Executives, Product, Sales, and Marketing to deliver platform enhancements on time and within budget
  • Champion Agile development practices, continuous delivery, and user-centered design in all technology decisions
  • Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports across engineering, infrastructure, security, and operations
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement, including regular check-ins and weekly one-on-one conversations with each direct report
  • Build succession plans and a leadership pipeline within the technology organization

  • $200,000 – $230,000 annual base salary depending on experience and education
