The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a key role within the technology team, reporting directly to the CIO. This position is responsible for technology strategy, enterprise transformation, implementation, deployment, and operation of mission‑critical infrastructure… The CTO accelerates cloud migration, engineers resiliency by design across on‑prem and cloud estates, and provisions fit‑for‑purpose, secure, and cost‑optimized technologies; to enable the technology team to deliver exceptional service and value. The position will lead various Directors/Managers, assisting in developing systems to improve our technology infrastructure. The CTO also serves as a member of several committees and collaborates with organizational partners to achieve organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • Ten or more years of experience in some combination of the following disciplines: business or information solutions, technical architecture, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management.
  • Demonstrated success delivering large‑scale cloud-native migration, resiliency/DR programs, and ITSM modernization
  • Familiarity with information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, infrastructure and operations, and ITIL frameworks.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, including team leadership and work organization/coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Infrastructure transformation vision and multi‑year roadmap aligned to business strategy, regulatory obligations, and risk appetite; translate strategy into clear OKRs and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead cloud migration at scale (AWS as primary) including landing zone architecture, identity, network connectivity, workload placement, and application rationalization; establish FinOps practices for cloud cost governance and optimization.
  • Engineer resiliency by design: set enterprise RTO/RPO targets, drive active‑active/DR patterns, chaos testing, backup/restore standards, and cyber‑resilience (in partnership with the CISO) across on‑prem and cloud estates.
  • Modernize End‑User Computing (e.g., Microsoft 365, endpoint management/Intune, VDI/DaaS) to improve productivity, security (Zero Trust), and supportability; accelerate self‑service and automation.
  • Advance ITSM maturity (ITIL 4): streamline incident, problem, change, request, and asset practices; implement SRE/observability, reduce MTTR, and lower change failure rate through DevOps‑aligned workflows.
  • Establish platform engineering and automation: standardize infrastructure as code (IaC), CI/CD for infrastructure, and golden patterns for repeatable deployments across environments.
  • Optimize infrastructure financials: create transparency for TCO and unit economics; manage budgets, forecast cloud/on‑prem spend, and drive savings via consolidation, modernization, and FinOps guardrails.
  • Strengthen vendor/third‑party performance management for data center operations, network services, and managed support; enforce SLAs, risk controls, and exit strategies; align with procurement and vendor risk.
  • Build trusted stakeholder relationships across Technology, Risk, Security, and the business; prioritize initiatives that deliver time‑to‑value, efficiency, and customer experience improvements.
  • Govern architecture and standards: partner with enterprise architects to maintain reference architectures, technology lifecycles, and technical debt remediation plans.
  • Develop high‑performing teams: mentor leaders and engineers; cultivate a culture of reliability, automation, learning, and accountability; represent Old National Bank at external forums.
