About The Position

We are seeking a Chief Steward to be onboard our subsea rock installation vessel (SRIV) fleet and is an essential part of the crew, plays an active role in operations. The Chief Steward works under the general administrative supervision of the Master or, during the absence of the Master, the Chief Mate. This is a domestic project–based position, with immediate assignment to our SRIV in the United States. The typical work rotation is 4 weeks on duty, followed by 4 weeks off.

Requirements

  • Incumbent is required to possess a valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential, or flag state equivalent, with Food Handler (F.H.) endorsement where applicable.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to supervise and manage galley personnel in accordance with Company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Must possess the ability to plan menus, order provisions, manage food inventories, and minimize food waste.
  • Must be capable of preparing a wide variety of meals for approximately 40 to 50 personnel and accommodating special dietary requirements (e.g., diabetic, low sodium, religious, or allergy-related needs).
  • Position requires proficiency in the safe operation and maintenance of galley equipment and adherence to sanitation and hygiene standards.
  • Formal culinary training and ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety training are required.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to learn and apply procedures associated with living and working aboard a vessel, including firefighting, first aid, and the use of lifesaving equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall management and operation of the vessel’s galley and accommodations services.
  • Supervising galley personnel, planning menus, preparing meals, scheduling meal service times, and ensuring food quality and nutritional standards are maintained.
  • Coordinates provisioning activities, including ordering, receiving, storing, and inventory management of food supplies and galley consumables.
  • Ensures that adequate stores are maintained to support vessel operations and project schedules while minimizing waste.
  • Participates in meal preparation and ensures meals are prepared in accordance with sanitation regulations and Company standards.
  • Preparing meals for crew and visitors as required.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the galley, pantry, mess areas, and associated spaces and ensures compliance with health, safety, and sanitation requirements.
  • Oversight of food handling practices and storage conditions.
  • Supports crew welfare by maintaining a safe, hygienic, and comfortable dining environment and coordinating with vessel leadership regarding special requirements or operational constraints.
  • Periodically the employee will be required to spend several days undergoing safety training and equipment training prudent to their job duties.
  • May be assigned other duties as operational requirements dictate.
