The Chief Resident Services Officer (CRSO) provides strategic leadership as the senior executive responsible for all nursing and other designated patient care functions, as well as day-to-day operational services, within the organization.to ensure that the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective healthcare is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Birmingham Green. Collaborates with the Facility Administrators to direct and facilitate effective, comprehensive, data-driven QAPI and Risk Management Programs that focus on systems of care, outcomes of care, and quality of life. In accordance with government regulation, licensing, and accreditation requirements, they will participate in strategic planning and contribute to achieving institutional goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of nursing and medical practice and procedure, laws, regulations, and guidelines about healthcare, assisted living, long-term care, and memory support. Skilled with clinical and diagnostic procedures, rules, regulations, rehabilitation, pharmacy, lab, and guidelines
  • Exhibit integrity and discretion when dealing with confidential and protected health information (including HIPAA compliance).
  • Able to observe, interpret, assess a situation, and determine independently the appropriate course of action. Self-motivated. Good judgment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to read, write, give, and follow written and verbal instructions, as well as comprehend and exchange detailed information in English. Achieve goals through presentation to key stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory, negotiation, and leadership skills. This includes being polished, courteous, professional, and patient. Ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, electronic medical records management, medical supplies and equipment, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through and accuracy.
  • Organizational skills (managing multiple tasks and adapting to changing priorities). Ability to meet deadlines and achieve desired outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.). Ability to operate standard equipment, including medical equipment, computers, and other office equipment
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, interpret, and manage programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and resources necessary to provide high-quality care
  • A bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly required, and an MSN is preferred, with extensive experience in nursing and operational oversight of multiple locations.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Nursing and an MBA are preferred, with extensive experience in nursing and operational oversight of multiple locations.
  • Must have current Virginia RN License, certification for adult BLS /AED and ISP and UAI
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare leadership within the long-term care industry or a related field, with 4 years of experience in senior nursing and operational management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all aspects of nursing and operational services are delivered in accordance with established programs and policies. Provide direction, in direct supervision, and consultation of nursing staff. Develop a strategic plan (written goals, objectives), and activities for delivering Nursing home and Assisted living services. Handles the development and maintenance of nursing and clinical policy and procedure manuals
  • Oversee the coordination of ongoing quality assurance and performance improvement programs, ensuring that appropriate action plans are in place to address and correct any identified deficiencies.
  • Serve as a resource to all organizational personnel regarding nursing and operational activities.
  • Oversee the creation of an environment that supports employee development and teamwork, enabling the delivery of compassionate resident care. Foster the creation of systems, processes, and care standards to support the delivery of resident care in a safe, fiscally sound, and service-excellent environment.
  • Oversee the coordination of social, spiritual and bereavement counseling services.
  • Oversee program planning, identifying new program areas, establishing policies and procedures related to service delivery, and evaluating organizational programs.
  • Foster an environment that supports growth and community through partnership and shared goals
  • Participate in developing corporate goals and objectives, contribute extensively to achieving them, and make positive contributions to interdepartmental quality initiatives and communications. Foster an environment of financial stability to achieve mission and strategy.
  • Ensure the highest degree of customer awareness is demonstrated by seeking out opportunities to identify, meet, and exceed the needs of internal and external customers, including all relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitors caseloads as needed to deliver principled care in a cost-effective manner that demonstrates an understanding of the set procedures
  • Provide strategic consultation and long-term planning recommendations to management and the Board of Directors on Nursing and operational matters, maintaining the Confidentiality of patient and organizational information.
  • Monitors the productivity of adequate staff and contractor utilization, making adjustments as needed. Oversees the staffing patterns that will accomplish objectives and promote maximum utilization of personnel
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all federal statutes related to participation in Medicare and Medicaid programs. Medicare fraud and abuse issues.
  • Develops and implements the Ethics and Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement and Risk Management programs for the Nursing Home and Assisted Living facilities and related operations of the Birmingham Green communities.
  • Retains strict ethical and professional behavior, maintaining confidentiality. Exercises good judgment and tact when dealing with residents, families, other professionals, and staff.
  • Fosters a close liaison and working relationship with physicians, pharmacists, labs, rehabilitation, and other long-term and acute care service providers.
  • Pursues professional growth through attending in-services, seminars, conferences, and/or workshops and reading/studying relevant professional literature and resources. Participates in community planning related to the interests of the facility
