About The Position

The Chief Pharmacy Officer is the senior-most pharmacy executive providing oversight, direction, and decision making for Intermountain Healthcare Pharmacy Services. The position has oversight and accountability for operations and performance of pharmacy services, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards assuring patient safety and high-quality delivery of care and experience. This position is responsible for all aspects of Pharmacy Services including strategic planning, program growth and development, clinical services delivered by pharmacy caregivers, medication management, medication safety, formulary management, pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, financial performance, pharmaceutical purchasing and forecasting, continuous improvement activities, and supplier contract management. This position provides effective and inspiring leadership aligning laboratory and pathology services with the enterprise’s mission, vision, values and strategies. This position has oversight of the financial and operational aspects of pharmacy ensuring its efficiency and sustainability. The leader is expected to leverage the integrated healthcare delivery model and engage with physicians and other caregivers to further integrate pharmacy services into seamless care delivery processes Scope This is an enterprise leadership role. The individual will provide executive leadership and operational oversight for all aspects of pharmacy operations and will advise on the strategic direction for Pharmacy Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and an advanced (Masters) degree or a PharmD degree and advanced (Masters) degree from an accredited institution. (Degree will be verified.)
  • License to practice pharmacy and dispense controlled substances in the State of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, or Utah.
  • 10 years of progressive pharmacy management experience with documented success in an integrated healthcare system, managed care and /or hospital environment with broad clinical, operational, and regulatory background.
  • Experience as a Director of Pharmacy in an acute-care or community pharmacy settings, with management experience of multi-site and/or multi discipline operations.
  • Experience in a role requiring skills related to balancing clinical, regulatory and financial goals and outcomes and collaborating with individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Extensive and progressive leadership experience with documented success in an integrated healthcare system, managed care or hospital environment with broad clinical, operational, and regulatory background.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the operations of pharmacy services by setting vision and strategy, developing and supporting the implementation of shared goals and monitoring and evaluating outcomes.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships across the enterprise, collaborating effectively to improve safety, quality, and experience.
  • Ensures standardization of best practice driving a culture of continuous improvement delivering best-in-class quality and experience outcomes, patient and caregiver safety, access and affordability, and caregiver engagement
  • Monitors financial outcomes, performance measures and implements Intermountain strategies to meet desired objectives
  • Provides effective and inspiring leadership necessary to achieve a caregiver work environment aligned with our mission, vision and values
  • Ensures compliance with all laws, regulations and accreditation requirements for Laboratory Services
  • Provide leadership and direction for the pharmacy residency and education programs, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
  • Responsible for all aspects of pharmacy operations including clinical pharmacy services, formulary management, medication utilization, internal process control, 340B Drug Pricing Program, pharmacy automation and technology, pharmacy informatics, pharmacy staffing models, drug distribution, inventory management, medication adherence, budgeting, purchasing, recruitment and retention, financial performance, and regulatory compliance.
