The Chief People Officer is a critical member of Compeer's Executive Leadership Team, accountable for shaping and advancing a forward-looking people strategy that enables business transformation, market expansion, and long-term talent sustainability. This individual serves as a strategic partner to the CEO, leadership team and Board, responsible for leading all aspects of the HR function including talent, total rewards, learning & development, HR technology, employee experience, and culture. The Chief People Officer will align talent strategy to Compeer's growth agenda, operating model evolution, and distributed workforce. They will champion performance alignment, enterprise culture, leadership development, and agile transformation, ensuring HR serves as a tech-enabled strategic partner to the business. This includes leading efforts to test, scale, and evolve talent and culture initiatives across a multi-site, high-engagement organization committed to rural impact and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business administration, or related field required; advanced degree or HR certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership, ideally in complex, multi-site organizations with a significant professional workforce.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic workforce planning, operating model transformation, and culture alignment.
  • Expertise in talent strategy, organizational development, total rewards, HR technology, and leadership development.
  • Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to align people strategy with enterprise growth and innovation.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging with boards and senior leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Compeer's enterprise human capital function and leadership team, setting and executing a forward-looking people strategy that enables business transformation, growth, and long-term organizational sustainability across the full employee lifecycle.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors on enterprise workforce strategy, leadership succession, executive compensation, culture, and organizational health.
  • Lead the strategic talent management and leadership foundation of Compeer's multi-year enterprise strategy, driving HR modernization through digitally enabled, data-informed systems, capabilities, and operating models.
  • Oversee enterprise talent management, leadership development, total rewards (including executive and broad-based compensation), employee relations, learning and development, and HR technology and analytics.
  • Drive enterprise performance alignment, engagement, and leadership effectiveness across a geographically distributed and mission-driven workforce.
  • Build and lead a high-performing HR organization, fostering accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous capability development.
  • Align human capital investments with enterprise priorities through disciplined workforce planning, financial stewardship, and budgeting that supports productivity, efficiency, and growth.
  • Architect and implement leadership development and succession systems to ensure depth, readiness, and continuity of leadership at all levels of the organization.
  • Shape and steward Compeer's culture, embedding leadership expectations, behaviors, and accountability while reinforcing integrity, inclusion, empowerment, innovation, and transparency.
  • Participate in the development of long-term strategic business plans and implementation strategies to achieve the organization's objectives.
  • Participate in regular ELT meetings and discussions; active partnership with peers in making sound decisions based on analysis, discussion, experience and good judgment.
  • Works closely with Board of Directors to provide expertise in talent strategy and benchmarking against peer organizations; supports the board with necessary reporting and periodic discussions of business results.
  • Effectively addresses conflict and differences of opinion.
  • Champions the brand and serves as a role model for the vision, mission and values of the organization.
  • Communicates business expectations and goals to the team and is responsible for the team's results.
  • Promotes a positive work environment that leverages the talents and abilities of team members in achieving organizational and team goals.
  • Determines and effectively communicates performance standards and development plans and assesses performance against standards.
  • Drives continuous process improvement and accountability within the team.
  • Develops a network of both external and internal relationships which enhances Compeer's image as well as create avenues for learning and professional development.
