About The Position

Reporting into the President, gategroup North America, the Chief People Officer, gategroup North America will be an active member of the Regional Management team and also global People Leadership team. This role is responsible for defining and implementing the HR strategy for the regional business, with particular focus on maintaining and improving employee relations, employee engagement, talent management and development across the region. The position will partner with the President to understand the business objectives and develop and implement a people strategy to support the objectives. This role will have a dotted-line report to and partner with the gategroup Chief People Officer, defining and refining the global HR strategy and execution. Responsibilities

  • CPO Leadership: Provide insight to and lead the development and implementation of global HR projects as directed by gategroup CPO. Work collaboratively with all Regional People leaders & Global HR team. Develop annual strategic human resources plan; create and manage budget(s) and people resources to support objectives. Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning of new programs/strategies and regulatory actions as those items impact the attraction, motivation, development and retention of the people resources of the region. Develop regional HR team capabilities to ensure best practice standards. Develop and support a high performing HR team, manage and drive HR KPI’s.
  • Employee Relations: Actively promote good employee relations between trade unions, colleagues, management and employees. Build and maintain a constructive relationship with the union / work councils. Lead and oversee the strategy and implementation of union negotiations in the region. Oversee the creation, maintenance, monitoring and improvement compliance activities in the region including employment related policies and practices to comply with all relevant laws and regulations. Mediate and resolve employee relation disputes as necessary.
  • Employee Engagement: Progress the integration of the Company Values across the region. Lead the roll out of the global engagement survey in the region including ensuring actions are implemented and followed up. Continue to improve the internal communications strategy in partnership with the Communications department. Continue to build the employer brand in the external NA market place in coordination with group marketing.
  • Talent Acquisition / Development: Lead and implement the global talent management cycle in the region including participation in the global HR Leadership team initiatives. Devise and implement strategies to attract, develop and retain talent. Engage with middle and senior management to improve their capability and that of their teams. Ensure robust succession planning for the regional business. Responsible for development in the region and supporting global leadership development programs.
  • Business Partnering: Serve as business partner and executive coach to the regional President. Ensure appropriate and useful business partner and executive coaching support is provided to the individual regional senior leadership team members. Provide support and guidance on all areas of compensation and benefits applicable to the region including ensuring appropriate benchmarks are completed for new positions. Ensure the effective implementation of all global annual compensation processes (STIP, salary increases). Maintain knowledge of international HR policies, programs, laws and issues. Understand the differences of domestic and international policies and programs and coordinate the integration of employees on international assignments in the region.
  • People Function Compliance, ESG & Policy Implementation: Ensure the People Function are in full compliance with local laws, while maintaining adherence to gategroup’s global People Function policies, guidance and procedures. Represent of gatesolutions businesses to influence new ways of working with business implementation of global People Function policies ensuring all local legal and cultural contexts are taken into consideration. Drive successful completion and continuity of standards and business lead accreditations
  • People Digitalization Strategy & Implementation: Contribute to the implementation of the global People Digitalization strategy, ensuring alignment with gategroup’s technology standards and processes. Collaborate with global teams to ensure system integration and adoption of People Digitalization tools for data accuracy and process efficiency. Define and implement gatesolutions People Digitalization strategy to include training and support for BU teams maximizing system utilization
  • Business Support Support commercial tenders / wins and provide HR input as appropriate. Lead on employee related business implications of commercial wins / losses (e.g. mergers / TUPE). Lead on cultural integration following mergers. Lead on employment law issues impacting the business. Provide input during due diligence efforts to assist the Company in evaluating potential deals Participate in and support change management initiatives within the HR function and the business as required.
