About The Position

WestCare Foundation is seeking a seasoned non-profit executive for our Chief Operations Officer (COO) position in the Midwest. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience running non-profit organizations and will be looking for an opportunity to lead our Midwest operations. This currently includes non-profit agencies in Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. The ideal candidate will live in the Midwest and bring strong leadership experience, a deep commitment to community service, and a proven ability to build partnerships, secure resources, and inspire teams. As COO, you will be responsible for working with local Vice Presidents to advance our mission, oversee operations, and represent our organizations to donors, partners, and the public with integrity and passion.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a related field or comparable years of qualifying experience
  • Prior experience leading and managing complex operations at a senior executive management level.
  • Knowledge of the goals, objectives, structure and operations of a multi-faceted organization.
  • Ability to think strategically, conduct planning, anticipate future trends and consequences, perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of institutional policies and procedures, regulations and bylaws, and the legal environment in which they operate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to each of our Midwest Vice Presidents to enable them to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Work with the Vice Presidents and Executive Management to ensure the Operational Entities financial strength, determine areas of potential revenue growth and cost reduction, conduct contract evaluations, review results on an on-going basis and take corrective action to achieve the annual budget.
  • Work in conjunction with the Vice Presidents, Executive Management, community partners and government agencies to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve problems arising from the operational entities with the organization including: employment issues, service delivery issues, contract compliance issues, staffing requirement issues, budgeting and financial adjustment issues, legal and risk management issues, and operational regulatory issues. Work with the Vice Presidents to develop managers and department leaders to build a high performing team who will meet the organization's goals and program and fiscal objectives.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and ensure performance reviews are conducted on all Operational Entity staff.
  • Lead and participate in planning and budgeting processes and be accountable for developing and implementing action plans to achieve annual objectives.
  • Provide leadership and work collaboratively with Vice Presidents and staff to evaluate new opportunities and implement new programs and services that improve the organization's market position.
  • Work with the Vice Presidents to lead and direct the establishment of Community Action Councils (CACs) in all assigned agencies and support ongoing leadership and management of existing CACs by Vice Presidents.
  • Implement high standards of service for care, monitor quality and take corrective action to ensure accreditation and regulatory guidelines are met.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and team members in providing strategic recommendations and advice.
  • Be available, on-call, to respond to or direct emergency situations or crises response situations as they arise.
  • Participate in and support WestCare Board Meetings, Board Committee Meetings, Community Action Council Meetings and other leadership meetings as required.
  • Participate or serve as a member on state or national workgroups, think tanks, and leadership or policy organizations as a WestCare representative in order to both promote WestCare and to bring current state of the art programming into WestCare.
  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of the WestCare Foundation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
