About The Position

U.S. Facilities, Inc., a leading integrated facility management company, is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) with deep expertise in Facilities Management. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the COO will guide the continued growth of multiple business lines while overseeing all operational functions of the organization. The ideal candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership across the company’s full client portfolio—ensuring financial performance, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and organizational scalability. This executive will maintain strong internal controls, optimize processes, enhance reporting, and foster a high‑performance culture across our organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Facilities Management, Business Administration, or a related field (master’s preferred)
  • Minimum eight (8) to ten (10) years of senior‑level operations leadership experience.
  • 10+ years in facilities management, operations, or engineering, with significant leadership experience.
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, and written skills.
  • Technical/Mechanical knowledge related to Facilities Management.
  • Expertise in Asset Management, Operations & Maintenance, Project Management, Sustainability, KPIs, and Risk Management.
  • Experience in managing OSHA‑compliant safety programs and environmental compliance.
  • Familiarity with EH&S regulations.
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or professional engineering licenses required.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), project management, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Ability to align operations with organizational mission and strategic goals.
  • Lead teams in achieving profitability, cash flow, and performance objectives.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of internal and external processes.
  • Strengthen operational infrastructure, systems, and controls across all sites.
  • Lead monthly meetings on best practices, safety, performance metrics, and corporate initiatives.
  • Represent the company with clients and partners.
  • Supporting customer satisfaction KPIs through executive‑level client‑care oversight.
  • Oversee new project launches and business expansion outside the Capitol Region.
  • Regular travel to client sites, operational locations, and new project start‑up sites.
  • Frequent travel outside the Capitol Region to oversee operations, expansions, and project launches.
  • Periodic travel for EH&S inspections, client reviews, and leadership meetings.
  • Estimated travel: 50%–75%.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain operational controls, reporting procedures, and administrative systems that support growth and efficiency.
  • Standardize operational procedures and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion energy efficiency, carbon neutrality goals, and "green" building practices across the organization's portfolio.
  • Oversee the development and management of annual operating budgets across multiple sites and service lines.
  • Partner with executive leadership to set financial targets, forecast revenue and expenses, and ensure strategic alignment.
  • Monitor financial performance, including profitability, cost controls, cash flow, and operational efficiency.
  • Review financial reports and implement corrective actions for variances.
  • Ensure responsible allocation of resources to optimize performance and fiscal stability.
  • Support pricing strategies and financial modeling for RFPs, expansions, and new business opportunities.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain data supporting effective safety and environmental programs.
  • Recommend safety and environmental controls to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct periodic job‑site inspections and work with Site Leads on EH&S compliance.
  • Maintain OSHA/EPA logs, training records, and regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate with HR and insurance carriers on accident prevention and workers’ compensation matters.
  • Act as executive sponsor for major accounts, ensuring operational excellence and achievement of KPIs.
  • Represent the company in key client meetings, industry engagements, and strategic partnerships.
  • Support RFP responses, staffing models, site walk‑throughs, subcontractor assessments, pricing, and equipment evaluations.
  • Mentor operational leaders, promote leadership development, and ensure succession planning.
  • Build a culture of accountability, safety, performance, and service excellence.
