About The Position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital will oversee and optimize day-to-day operations to ensure the highest quality patient care, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability. You will collaborate with the administrative team to develop and execute strategic initiatives that align with the healthcare system’s mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • Masters (Required)
  • AHCA Background Screening (AHCA) - State of Florida (FL), Fingerprint Screen (FINGERPRNT) - Florida Department of Childrens & Family (DCF)
  • Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive hospital operations leadership experience, including at least 5 years as COO or equivalent role in a large acute care hospital.
  • Proven success in managing high-acuity service lines such as cardiac transplant program, surgical services, trauma and emergency services.
  • Master's degree required in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or related field

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CEO and administrative team to develop and execute strategic plans that support the hospital's mission, vision, and long-term growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including physicians, department heads, employees, patients, and community leaders, to promote collaboration and alignment of interests.
  • Evaluate market trends, competitive dynamics, and demographic shifts to identify opportunities for service expansion, partnerships, and market differentiation.
  • Represent the hospital in external forums, industry conferences, and professional associations to enhance the organization's visibility and reputation.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for assigned hospital operations, including clinical services, administrative functions, facilities management, and support services.
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to enhance patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to develop and manage the hospital's annual operating budget, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and financial targets.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and implement cost-saving initiatives to optimize resource allocation and maximize revenue generation.
  • Champion a culture of patient safety, quality improvement, and risk management throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders to implement evidence-based practices and clinical protocols that enhance patient outcomes and minimize adverse events.
  • Oversee accreditation and regulatory compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to standards set forth by relevant governing bodies (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
  • Lead initiatives to enhance patient experience, satisfaction, and loyalty by addressing patient feedback and implementing service excellence initiatives.
