We are currently seeking a passionate individual for the position of Chief Operating Officer. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the internal management of the organization and the effective delivery of its programs and services. Reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED), the COO ensures that systems, staff, and resources are aligned to achieve Mercy Haven's mission. The COO oversees daily operations, supervises senior program and administrative staff, and ensures organizational excellence across finance, human resources, compliance, and program implementation. The COO provides operational leadership and stability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required, Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience in executive level administration as well as experience working with our population
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite. Regularly utilizes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, project management, and change management skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

  • Physical Requirements: Sits, stands, stoops, squats, walks, and moves intermittently during work hours, may push or pull 15-20 pounds daily, repetitive wrist and finger movement, ability to frequently travel to worksites and events

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational oversight of all daily activities to ensure effective, efficient, and mission-driven delivery of programs and services.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support senior programmatic and administrative leaders, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance across departments.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, local, and agency regulations while maintaining rigorous quality assurance standards across all programs.
  • Translate organizational strategy and the Strategic Plan into clear operational objectives, workflows, and measurable performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and legal counsel on long-term planning, contractual obligations, and organizational governance.
  • Lead agency-wide process improvement, risk management, and change management efforts to increase operational efficiency and program effectiveness.
  • Use data, evaluation tools, and outcome measures to assess program performance, guide decision-making, and drive continuous quality improvement.
  • Partner with state and local officials, funders, and community stakeholders to cultivate opportunities for funding, program development, and organizational growth.
  • Participate actively in agency fundraising efforts and represent Mercy Haven at community events, stakeholder meetings, and public engagements.
  • Promote alignment across departments by identifying opportunities for synergy, modeling collaborative leadership, and reinforcing the agency's mission, values, and strategic priorities.
