About The Position

Immanuel Communities is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to work at our home office located at 1044 North 115th Street, Omaha, NE 68154. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) serves as the operational architect for Immanuel, responsible for translating organizational vision into scalable, sustainable performance across all lines of business — including Communities, Long-Term Care, Pathways, Clinical and future growth platforms such as acquisitions, partnerships, and service expansion. This executive leads the evolution of Immanuel’s operating model to ensure long-term relevance in a changing healthcare and senior living environment. The COO drives integration, innovation, and operational excellence across the organization while ensuring all operations advance Immanuel’s Mission and CHRIST Promises while delivering exceptional experiences for residents, participants, employees, and partners. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Gerontology, Public or Healthcare Administration, or related area is required.
  • Ten years of demonstrated management experience at a senior and/or Executive level with a sequence of increasing responsibilities in large and diverse business settings or related experience required.
  • Ten plus years’ experience in Continuum of Care including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Support, Long-term Care and Skilled Nursing is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of strategic and business planning methods, tools and processes required.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations related to all facets of the continuum of care including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Support, Long-term Care and Skilled Nursing.
  • Knowledge of residential housing regulations.
  • Knowledge of budget and finance, organizational, time management, and business practices.
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach senior-level staff to manage and develop high-performing teams and develop and implement program strategies.
  • Exceptional Interpersonal skills and Balanced Emotional Intelligence.
  • Skilled at needs assessment, facilitation of project implementation and organizational change or development.
  • Staff development, team building and coaching experience.
  • Must have a high level of judgment, decision-making, discretion and integrity.
  • Ability to work effectively with other Executives to achieve key business goals.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop recommendations and solutions that are understood in business terms.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally and in front of small and large groups to enhance a clear understanding to all audiences.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work as a self-directed, highly organized individual with the ability to meet required deadlines.
  • Maintains awareness of existing and emerging business, regulatory issues, and market factors.

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience with PACE and HCBS (Home and Community Based Services) preferred.
  • Experience in community-based expansion and acquisitions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Devise strategies and direct the overall design, planning and implementation of Immanuel’s strategic initiatives in relation to Operational businesses.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage cross-business strengths to take advantage of new opportunities and/or to address organizational challenges/efficiencies.
  • Lead evaluation, diligence, and integration planning for acquisitions, partnerships and other expansion opportunities.
  • Identify emerging market trends, reimbursement changes, and consumer expectations to proactively evolve Immanuel’s service model.
  • Drive cross-continuum integration to create a seamless experience across housing, healthcare, and community-based services.
  • Champion innovation initiatives that improve access, affordability, and outcomes while advancing mission impact.
  • Monitor operating policies that balance risk, compliance, and agility.
  • Translates organizational vision into operational roadmaps and multi-year plans.
  • A results-oriented leader who creates a culture of engagement where people development, transparent communication channels, and leadership cohesion are cultivated.
  • Establish an operational performance framework with measurable outcomes for quality, service, financial sustainability, and growth.
  • Design standardized yet adaptable operating practices that ensure consistency while allowing local responsiveness.
  • Lead process improvement and efficiency initiatives to optimize workforce utilization, technology adoption, and care delivery.
  • Oversee fiscal performance and adherence to KPIs (key performance indicators) across operational areas including budgeting, occupancy, capital stewardship, and long-range financial planning.
  • Ensure operational readiness for regulatory, payment, and industry shifts.
  • Understands budgets, cost structures and operational ROI.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance while building a proactive risk-management culture.
  • Monitor policies and procedures for residents and participants health and safety.
  • Serve as executive governing authority for licensed services, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-reliability operations.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance and information sharing with the governing body for LTC and PACE.
  • Integrate healthcare services across all business lines to improve outcomes, transitions of care, and resident/participant experience.
  • Align clinical standards, best practices, and quality improvement efforts across the organization.
  • Advance data-driven decision making through outcome measurement and key performance indicators.
  • Represent Immanuel as a strategic partner within communities, healthcare networks, and industry relationships.
  • Ensure operational decisions consistently reflect organizational values, mission and faith-based commitments.
  • Strengthen Immanuel’s reputation as a trusted provider and employer of choice in each of our markets.
  • Build and develop a high-performing operational leadership team capable of leading, growing their area and evolving the organization.
  • Create succession depth and leadership pipelines to support long-term organizational sustainability.
