About The Position

TaskForce has been retained to recruit a Chief of Staff for a confidential, mission-driven organization operating at the intersection of politics and public affairs. The organization works nationally, engages senior leaders across government, media, and philanthropy, and operates in high-stakes environments where judgment, discretion, and execution matter. This role is not with TaskForce. TaskForce is serving as an external search partner for this position. The Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted strategic partner to organizational leadership and a central driver of execution. This role is designed for a highly discreet operator who can manage operations and finances, align cross-functional work, and support leadership on strategy, communications, and external partnerships. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Chief of Staff will translate vision and intent into clear priorities, disciplined execution, and measurable outcomes. Acting as the connective tissue across teams, this individual will bring structure, clarity, and momentum - while exercising sound judgment in sensitive and confidential settings. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating behind the scenes, equally adept at shaping strategy and ensuring the details are handled with precision.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in senior operations, strategy, or management roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with executive leadership in high-stakes, fast-moving environments.
  • Experience collaborating with or supporting marketing and communications efforts, including messaging and positioning.
  • Strong operational and financial judgment, with comfort overseeing budgets and organizational performance.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage complexity with calm and clarity.
  • High emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and a proven track record of discretion and trust.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic, Executive & Communications Support Partner closely with leadership on strategy, decision-making, and priority management.
  • Support messaging and communications strategy, including preparation of briefings, talking points, and strategic memos.
  • Convert leadership direction into actionable plans, timelines, and execution frameworks.
  • Operations & Financial Oversight Oversee and support day-to-day operations to ensure alignment and follow-through.
  • Partner on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning; monitor spend and organizational health.
  • Build and maintain systems, workflows, and operating rhythms that enable accountability and scale.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership Serve as a trusted integrator across departments, resolving issues and maintaining momentum.
  • Support senior leaders in managing teams, deliverables, and time-sensitive priorities.
  • Lead special projects and sensitive initiatives on behalf of leadership.
  • External Engagement & Partnerships Support leadership in managing high-level partnerships and key external relationships.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders across politics, media, advocacy, and allied sectors.
  • Provide oversight and support for major events or public-facing moments as needed.
