About The Position

To support the teams working on our exciting projects, we are looking for Chief of Staff - Sector Leads In the United States - Chicago We are seeking a senior Chief of Staff to act as a force multiplier for two Partners leading high-growth sectors within the Americas region at Simon-Kucher. This is a highly visible leadership platform role designed to support both regional strategy development and operational execution and is explicitly designed as a platform-enabling leadership role, not a personal assistant or coordinator position. The Chief of Staff will drive execution discipline, elevate strategic narrative, orchestrate leadership forums, and ensure sector priorities translate into measurable growth. The role is intentionally positioned at the intersection of strategy and execution. It requires strong commercial acumen, operational rigor, executive presence, and the ability to drive alignment across a complex, matrixed organization. Success in this role will directly contribute to sustained 15–20% annual sector growth by improving prioritization, execution speed, and leadership focus. Requirements

  • 10–15+ years of experience years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, or equivalent leadership environment
  • Prior experience as a Chief of Staff, strategy consultant, or operational leader in a high-performance professional services setting
  • Demonstrated success working directly with senior executives and driving cross-functional initiatives
  • Exceptional structured thinking and synthesis

  • Proven ability to translate strategy into operational execution
  • Executive-level communication and narrative development

Responsibilities

  • Sector Strategy & Initiative Orchestration (Joint – ~30%)
  • Maintain a single, prioritized sector backlog and initiative tracker
  • Translate strategic priorities into structured plans with owners and milestones
  • Drive alignment across practices and senior stakeholders
  • Drive alignment and execution with central functions (e.g., CRM, Knowledge Management, Marketing, …) to ensure effective delivery of cross-sector strategic initiatives
  • Surface trade-offs and propose prioritization recommendations
  • Prepare and facilitate monthly strategic reviews
  • Drive continuous assessment of processes and ways of working to identify improvement opportunities, increase efficiency, and enhance alignment across offices
  • Capture and synthesize team feedback to ensure alignment and effective translation of strategic initiatives into operational execution
  • Execution & Follow-Through Discipline - this role exists so that senior leadership time is spent on decisions and growth—not chasing execution.
  • Ensure decisions result in clear actions, owners, and timelines
  • Proactively track and unblock initiatives
  • Escalate risks early with solution-oriented recommendations
  • Eliminate follow-up burden from both Partners
  • Narrative, Storyline & Forum Design - the Chief of Staff acts as a producer and orchestrator, not just an operator
  • Design leadership meeting agendas with clear objectives and outputs
  • Enforce pre-work and preparation standards
  • Improve meeting quality, energy, and strategic focus
  • Draft and refine high-quality decks, memos, POVs, and thought leadership
  • Support cross-practice narrative alignment
  • Partner-Specific Leverage (~35% each)
  • Prepare strategic briefs and synthesis for key client interactions
  • Support priority pursuits and positioning
  • Provide structured decision support
  • Help shape thought leadership and external visibility efforts
  • Talent & Platform Development
  • Support senior hiring and succession discussions
  • Identify leadership development opportunities
  • Coordinate consultant resources aligned to sector priorities
  • Manage structured leverage from consultants assigned to key initiatives
  • Authority & Operating Model
  • Shape leadership agendas and operating rhythms
  • Recommend prioritization and sequencing
  • Push back on low-value or misaligned requests
  • Escalate priority conflicts
  • Follow up directly with senior stakeholders
