About The Position

Under the direction of the Dean, the Chief of Staff serves as a unifying figure who bridges leadership priorities across all senior roles. This position ensures smooth coordination between college leaders by facilitating communication, managing projects, resolving conflicts, and driving strategic initiatives forward. This position balances operational execution with strategic vision making them indispensable in supporting both individual leaders and collective goals of the College of Dentistry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Four (4) years of experience; OR Master’s Degree and two (2) years of experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with senior leaders.
  • Ability to align operational strategies with academic priorities.
  • Skill in working on programs that strengthen relationships with community partners and organizations.
  • Ability to solve problems to provide solutions for challenges that arise across departments under the Executive Associate Dean’s purview.
  • Knowledge of managing high-level projects and initiatives that require cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Strong organizational skills, managing a wide variety of data, information, and calendars.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Dean and other senior leaders to develop and implement strategic goals for the college, aligning them with the university’s mission and vision.
  • Assists in creating and enforcing policies that support academic, clinical, and research activities within the college.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to the Dean and senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations on key decisions
  • Organizes and facilitates leadership meetings, ensuring agendas are focused on priority issues.
  • Leads or oversees special projects such as accreditation processes, curriculum development, or special projects.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Dean and faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders to ensure clear communication.
  • Plan major events like faculty retreats, development days, or alumni gatherings.
  • Represents the college in interactions with donors, alumni, community partners, and professional organizations.
  • Develops contingency plans for emergencies or disruptions in operations.
  • Oversee select administrative staff and ensure resources needed to perform roles effectively are accessible.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
