Jefferson County is seeking a well qualified Chief of Building Maintenance for its General Services department. The Chief of Building Maintenance plans, directs, and coordinates the work of employees who are responsible for the maintenance, repair, and custodial services of a moderate sized public building complex, including heating, sewage, electrical, and custodial systems. A Chief of Building Maintenance plans and carries out their assignments, resolves most of the conflicts that arise, coordinates work with others, and interprets policy on their own initiative in terms of established objectives. Employees in this job class receive managerial direction with assignments in terms of broad practice, precedents, policies, and goals. Work assignments are received through work orders, observation, meetings, and verbally. Work may be reviewed for fulfilment of program objectives and for conformance with department policy and practice.
