About The Position

The Chief Media Officer reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and serves on the Ministry Leadership Team. To maximize our audience, reach, and impact, as well as our return on investment, the Chief Media Officer drives our media, radio, programming, live events/partnerships and underwriting strategy and develops key music industry relationships. This role initiates and implements new media, ensuring our vision is carried out. Specifically, this position leads and oversees media, radio, programming, programming operations, live events/partnerships, and underwriting. Proactively influence our culture, leading by example in demonstrating collaboration, innovation, creativity, and service, while being a faithful witness on and off the job of K-LOVE’s vision to be the most trusted source of compelling media, linking people everywhere to the hope of Christ. As a member of executive leadership, contribute to long-term planning and vision implementation through identification of strategic initiatives, collaboration, prioritization, communication, and evaluation of results, while enhancing and preserving K-LOVE’s reputation for integrity and excellence. Engage CEO on Ministry Media, Radio, Programming, Live Events/Partnerships, and Underwriting issues, trends, and proposals for strategic initiatives and delivery. Champion new media strategies that support and drive K-LOVE’s strategic goals. Collaborate closely with Ministry Leadership Team, Senior Leaders, and other departments. Oversee strategic planning and implementation for new media as well as the market-leading departments of Radio, Programming, Programming Operations, and Live Events and Partnerships, with a focus on department goals, timelines, budgets, communication, results tracking, and celebration. Assess departmental performance against both annual goals and plans. Provide strategic recommendations based on operational analysis, research, and projections, cost identification and allocation, and resource analysis. Ensure tools and systems are in place to provide critical operational and project information to the CEO and Ministry Leadership Team and make actionable recommendations on both strategic goals and operational constraints. Provide strategic, knowledgeable and influential leadership, ensuring Ministry wide collaboration and communication, facilitating appropriate resolution of issues, and competing priorities. Ensure alignment of department initiatives with Ministry objectives. Lead by example in demonstrating a positive, energetic influence throughout the Ministry. Consistently represent the Ministry with integrity through actions, words, and behavior that supports and aligns with our Statement of Faith, Christ-Centered Life Covenant, Mission, Vision, and Values. Ensure effective communication and translation of Ministry goals into impactful media objectives in current platforms of radio and live events while assisting in other media as appropriate. In addition, provide leadership and direction in the development of new media initiatives with relevant strategic/operational plans. Provide strategic and creative insight for content and listener engagement. Ensure content “hits” the target, listener engagement is increased, growth/development of latest content, and brand integrity. Ensure that direction of existing platforms continues to be aligned with Ministry strategies. Responsible for growth and expansion of new media, while evaluating new platforms and utilization of technology. Continually evaluate listener and industry trends and appropriately expand existing platforms and technology to grow the Ministry. Facilitate and distill healthy relationships with current and/or new partners involving – Tours (internally or externally owned), K-LOVE Fan Awards, K-LOVE Cruise, and other efforts. These relationships are key and must be managed with trust, respect, and devotion to the Ministry. Serve as a catalyst/proponent for strategic and innovative change. Be ahead of the curve and proactively bring innovative technology, media, potential partnerships, business models and ways to obtain viable content to the forefront for consideration and further research and analysis. Ensure an environment that cultivates revolutionary ideas and proposals with team and self. Serve on the Ministry Leadership Team contributing to the Ministry through establishing and communicating strategic vision. Proactively consider the current and anticipated implications of social, political, economic, and technological factors which may influence the future of the Ministry. Positively represent the Ministry internally and externally, ensuring positive exposure and further partnership for the Ministry. As appropriate, participate in speaking engagements, committees, and conferences such as NAB, NRB, CMB, and board meetings. Deliver the media aspect of Ministry communication strategy.in partnership with the Chief Marketing and Communication Officer. Lead teams in developing proactive long-term strategies that deliver high quality media outputs for our Ministry. Use a full range of channels in promoting our priorities, maximizing digital tools, applying evaluation, and using relevant insight to get the best possible results. Lead media in ways that advance the ministry’s focus on evangelism, encouragement, discipleship and education. Provide leadership, mentoring and development for highly competent and responsive radio, programming, live events/partnerships and underwriting departments. Foster a learning environment where training, risk management, operational best practices, and biblical values go hand in hand with creative and entrepreneurial solutions that best fulfill the Ministry’s mission. Set and manage professional goals for self and direct reports. Actively seek and partake in training and education to deepen Biblical understanding, media/business acumen, leadership knowledge, interpersonal awareness, and communication skills. Demonstrate the qualities of a life-time learner in the disciplines relevant to effectively lead and perform job duties by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training. Actively participate and contribute to Ministry wide initiatives and projects like Pledge Drives, Daily Prayer (one time per day), All Team Meetings, All Team Celebrations, and others as announced. These initiatives, and others, are key components of the Ministry, our culture and more fun to do together! Support and contribute to Ministry endeavors by following employment policies and practices and supporting a safe and healthy work environment. Specifically, follow K-LOVE’s Injury Prevention and Safety program, support and maintain safety standards, and participate in safety training. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or combination of education/training with relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in broadcasting, radio programming, live events or other relevant new media, media management, sales, marketing and promotions platforms.
  • Experience working at an Executive Level with proven ability to contribute to strategic initiatives and implement relevant cross-departmental goals and objectives, including measurements/metrics.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience implementing industry best practices in conjunction with bold faith to influence new media solutions to the industry. Solid knowledge of broadcasting trends, ratings, and technology, in addition to listener demographics and program development and experience translating that knowledge into results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective business/Ministry relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Experience and skill that create a contagious and sustained enthusiasm in others.
  • Demonstrated high standards and focus on quality and overall customer experience.
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with strong service mentality. Need to be a team player.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the social sector with a passion for our mission and values.
