About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for safeguarding the financial health, stability, and long‑term sustainability of Cornerstone Financial Credit Union. This role oversees financial strategy, accounting operations, budgeting, asset/liability management (ALM), CECL modeling, investments, and risk management. The CFO partners closely with the President, Senior Management Team, and Board of Directors to guide the credit union's financial direction and ensure alignment with Resound's mission and strategic goals. The CFO ensures that the Credit Union's accounting practices are in compliance with generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP) and state and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in financial management preferably within a credit union or regulated financial institution.
  • Demonstrated experience with GAAP, ALM practices, budgeting, financial analysis, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience supervising accounting/finance teams and leading organizational financial strategy.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • High level of proficiency in financial modeling, accounting systems, and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and operate with accuracy and integrity.
  • Ability to maintain positive and professional relationships with employees, management, vendors, and regulators.
  • This position requires a professional appearance and manner.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to perform work assignments accurately with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail is required.
  • Must have good organization and communication skills and work effectively with other departments and branches, function as a team player, and cooperate with co-workers, members, and business associates.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial insight to the President, Senior Management Team, and Board of Directors, to include but not limited to planning, economic analysis, and forecasting.
  • Direct financial strategies that promote sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and strong financial performance.
  • Evaluate financial and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and member enhancement.
  • Oversee preparation of all financial reports in accordance with GAAP and NCUA requirements - including internal financial reports, regulatory call reports, and board package reports.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate accounting policies and procedures and internal controls.
  • Ensure policies and procedures reflect current regulations and are communicated to and implemented by staff, Coordinate with external and internal auditors and State and Federal examiners on all audits and examinations.
  • Lead ALM processes, including monitoring interest rate risk and liquidity risk, and develop strategies to mitigate exposure.
  • Oversee ALM and CECL modeling with third party vendors to ensure models are completed and reported to ALCO and Board of Directors in a timely manner.
  • Lead monthly ALCO meetings, including preparation and presentation of related reports.
  • Coordinates the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of the annual budgeting process.
  • Monitor budget performance monthly and provide actionable insights to department leaders.
  • Manage the Credit Union's investment portfolio, ensuring compliance with investment policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Responsible for purchase and sale of investment securities in support of overall financial strategy of the Credit Union and investment policy.
  • Oversee accounting and operational services departments, ensuring strong performance, operational efficiency, accountability, and staff development.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, training, and succession planning within these departments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and NCUA regulations governing credit union financial operations, Prepare and/or review all required tax filings, regulatory reports, and certifications.
  • Represent the credit union at external functions and attend board meetings and report on assigned areas requested by the President.
  • Assist with vendor negotiation and major purchasing decisions for the credit union.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
