About The Position

As a Partner in Wellbeing, the Chief Financial and Future Officer (CFFO) is a strategic executive leader responsible for stewarding the organization’s financial health while driving future-focused strategy, innovation, and long-term sustainability. This dual role blends traditional non-profit financial leadership with forward-thinking capabilities, ensuring the organization remains financially strong, diversified revenue, technologically relevant, and strategically positioned for emerging opportunities and disruptions. The CFFO partners closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and executive team to enable enterprise-level decision making, accelerate innovation, and lead organization-wide transformation efforts.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Finance required and preferred experience in Business, Health or Public Administration, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive executive leadership in finance, strategy, or transformation roles.
  • Experience navigating complex regulatory, funding, and operational environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational change and innovation initiatives.
  • Must pass a criminal background check through MN DHS NetStudy.
  • Access to a personal vehicle and the ability and willingness to use the vehicle in carrying out position responsibilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable under the agency’s automobile insurance policy.
  • Free from substance use problems for no less than 2 years.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate trends and translate them into actionable strategies.
  • Mastery in financial planning, analysis, and risk management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with data analytics, forecasting tools, and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic, mission-driven, and rapidly evolving environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of financial strategy, including budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee financial operations, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with regulatory and reporting standards.
  • Manage organizational financial risks and develop strategies to enhance fiscal resilience.
  • Provide financial insights to drive organization-wide strategic decisions.
  • Optimize business models and revenue strategies to support sustainable growth.
  • Lead organizational foresight efforts by identifying emerging trends, technologies, regulatory changes, and market disruptions.
  • Develop and implement long-range strategic plans that position the organization for future success.
  • Guide scenario planning, environmental scanning, and innovation road mapping.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of new models of service delivery, technology adoption, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Lead modernization efforts, including digital transformation, process redesign, and organizational evolution.
  • Serve as a key advisor in major organizational investments, partnerships, and strategic opportunities.
  • Align financial planning with organizational transformation priorities.
  • Provide strategic financial and future-focused reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Ensure strong, transparent communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner with the CEO to support board development, strategic discussions, and organizational planning.
  • Cultivate new and existing community partners, funders, and regulators by demonstrating trust, strong financial health, and strategic leadership.
  • Lead, Coach, and Manage high-performing finance teams and organization employees.
  • Drive and promote cross-functional/departmental initiatives aligned with long-term strategies and mission impact.
  • Champion a culture of accountability, learning, and strategic agility.
  • Develop organizational capabilities in data-driven decision making, financial literacy, and strategic thinking.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned or requested.
