About The Position

As the Chief Executive Officer of Jasper County REMC, this strong, people-centered and business-savvy leader reports directly to the Board of Directors and drives the success of the cooperative across all areas of operation. The CEO provides confident, decisive leadership over Finance, Electrical Operations, Broadband Services, Customer Experience, and Office Management—ensuring seamless day-to-day operations while maintaining a clear focus on long-term strategy and organizational health. This role leads the creation and execution of the annual budget, making sound, well-informed decisions that align operational priorities with the Board’s strategic goals. Through clear, consistent, and transparent communication, the CEO keeps the Board fully informed on financial performance, customer engagement, operational risks, and progress toward strategic initiatives. A strong leader of people, the CEO builds trust, accountability, and engagement across the organization. They foster a positive and high-performing culture by investing in employee development, setting clear expectations, and leading with integrity. Safety is not just a priority—it is a shared responsibility and a mindset reinforced through leadership actions and decisions. Externally, the CEO serves as a confident, credible, and respected representative of Jasper County REMC at Indiana Electric Cooperatives (IEC), Wabash Valley Power Alliance (WVPA), and throughout the local community. This leader builds strong relationships, communicates effectively with diverse stakeholders, champions innovation, and represents the cooperative with professionalism and purpose. The CEO will be responsible for demonstrating the following: PROFESSIONALISM Consistently behaves and presents themself in a professional, ethical, and accountable manner consistent with the seven cooperative principles and organizational standards. Brings experience leading complex operations and people, with the ability to balance strategic vision, operational execution, and timely decision-making. Clearly communicates expectations, goals, and vision in a way that provides direction, alignment, and enthusiasm. Demonstrates a strong commitment to employee growth and development by mentoring leaders, developing talent, and holding teams accountable for high performance. Promotes collaboration and partnership between the Board of Directors and staff to achieve shared objectives. COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT Possesses excellent communication skills and is an effective, approachable communicator with strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities. Is a confident decision-maker who thinks like an owner, uses data and sound judgment, and takes responsibility for outcomes. Builds and maintains productive relationships with regulatory agencies, legislative partners, members, and key external stakeholders. BUSINESS ACUMEN Demonstrates strong business and financial acumen, with comfort interpreting financial metrics, evaluating risk, and identifying opportunities that support long-term sustainability. Upholds and reinforces safety standards across the cooperative, proactively identifying risks and taking decisive action to protect employees and operations.

Requirements

  • Senior executive leadership experience, preferably within an electric cooperative, utility, energy, broadband, or similarly regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading both complex business operations and people, including developing leaders, managing performance, and driving organizational alignment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a Board of Directors, providing strategic counsel, transparent reporting, and sound recommendations.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including oversight of budgets, financial performance, risk management, and long-term strategic planning.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
