About The Position

Chief Engineer Origin Hotel Red Rocks - Golden, Colorado Full-Time, Exempt Reports To: General Manager/Assistant General Manager Salary: $70,000-85,000.00 annual + Bonus opportunities Lead Engineering at One of Colorado's Most Unique Hotels Origin Hotel Red Rocks is not your typical hotel, and this is not your typical engineering role! Located steps from Red Rocks Amphitheatre, this position sits at the intersection of hospitality, live events, and the Colorado outdoors. We're looking for a hands-on Chief Engineer who takes pride in their building, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and understands that behind every great guest experience is a well-run property. Why This Role is Different This is not a back-of-house maintenance position; this is a highly visible leadership role within a dynamic, experience-driven hotel environment. Origin Hotel Red Rocks is a 124-room boutique lifestyle hotel featuring a full-service restaurant, ballroom and banquet space, and an outdoor beer garden. The property operates in a unique, event-driven market tied closely to Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Lead and shape the preventative maintenance program Support operations across rooms, F&B, and events Contribute to guest experience and operational excellence Partner on capital and facility improvement projects

Requirements

  • 2+ years of building maintenance, facilities, or engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building systems
  • Ability to perform general repairs, including carpentry, drywall, painting, and basic mechanical work
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Availability to respond to urgent maintenance needs or on-call situations as required by the property

Nice To Haves

  • Hospitality or hotel engineering experience strongly preferred
  • HVAC certification and/or EPA certification preferred
  • Experience managing or executing preventative maintenance programs
  • Experience coordinating vendors, contractors, and service providers
  • Experience in a lifestyle, boutique, or high-occupancy hotel environment

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the overall condition and appearance of the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and exterior grounds
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely and efficient manner
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that impact guest comfort or hotel operations
  • Oversee and execute the hotel's preventative maintenance program for guest rooms and building systems
  • Conduct routine inspections to proactively identify maintenance needs and potential safety concerns
  • Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are consistently followed and documented
  • Maintain accurate logs and records for repairs, inspections, and equipment
  • Track and manage maintenance supplies, tools, and operational inventory
  • Support property leadership with capital improvements, renovations, and facility upgrades
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve building efficiency, longevity, and guest experience
  • Provide structure and accountability to maintenance operations, ensuring priorities align with business needs
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for specialized repairs, inspections, and compliance requirements
  • Ensure work is completed to standard, on time, and within scope
  • Assist in managing vendor relationships and service schedules
  • Partner closely with Housekeeping and Front Office teams to ensure rooms are fully functional and guest-ready
  • Support hotel leadership in maintaining a positive, safe, and efficient work environment
  • Respond promptly to urgent or emergency maintenance issues impacting operations
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations and building codes
  • Maintain adherence to life-safety systems, including fire, sprinkler, and alarm systems
  • Promote safe working practices when handling tools, equipment, and materials
  • Support inspections and ensure timely resolution of any deficiencies
  • Other tasks as needed
