About The Position

The Chief Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and efficiency of the Morgan’s architecturally-significant 150,000 square foot campus. The position oversees the operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and related systems, and serves as a close partner to the Director of Facilities in ensuring the smooth execution of capital projects. The position leads a team of engineers, promoting their professional development and ensuring safe work practices, and manages vendor relationships for repairs, service contracts, and capital improvement projects. This position reports to the Director of Facilities

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of building management systems and controls
  • Expertise in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Proficiency with tools, lifts, and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including CMMS, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 7-10 years of experience in building engineering operations
  • Q-01 Refrigerating System Operating Engineer
  • A-35 Air Compressor Operation
  • S-12 Citywide Sprinkler Systems
  • S-13 Citywide Standpipe Systems
  • P-98 Fuel-Oil Piping and Storage Systems
  • F-89 Fire Life Safety Director

  • S-95 Fire Alarm Systems Supervision
