This position requires TS/SCI
The Chief Editor will serve as the single managing editor overseeing editorial and creative staff. This individual will uphold journalistic standards consistent with industry best practices for commercial-quality content development and publishing, ensuring all content is factually accurate and aligned with the editorial intent of Government publications.

Requirements

• At least ten years of experience directly managing professional journalists and creative staff across multiple publications (e.g., newspapers, magazines, online publications) within editorially established guidelines.
• Ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, media organizations, and regional stakeholders to align messaging, drive process improvements, and ensure on-time delivery of program objectives.
• TS/SCI Clearance

Nice To Haves

• At least three years of experience working with foreign-language versions and translations to and from English-language publications.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience managing editorial operations in support of U.S. Government, military, or national security communications programs.
• Familiarity with USSOCOM, combatant command structures, or Information Operations / Psychological Operations (PSYOP) communication frameworks.
• Experience overseeing digital content management systems (CMS), web publishing platforms, and social media editorial workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of journalists, editors, graphic designers, and creative staff, fostering a culture of editorial excellence and professional development.
• Establish, communicate, and enforce editorial policies, style guides, and journalistic standards consistent with industry best practices for commercial-quality publishing.
• Review, edit, and approve all content prior to publication to ensure factual accuracy, editorial integrity, appropriate tone, and alignment with Government messaging objectives.
• Oversee the full editorial production lifecycle — from story assignment and content development through editing, layout review, translation, and final publication.
• Ensure all publications comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and classification requirements, including review processes for operationally sensitive material.
• Contribute to the development of editorial strategy, publication roadmaps, and content innovation initiatives in support of evolving mission requirements.
