About The Position

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is seeking a Chief Data Officer to drive adoption of new data governance policies and technologies, promoting resilience and fostering change at every level of the organization. This position will be responsible for executing the vision, roadmap, and organizational capabilities for advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and enterprise data management. In this foundational leadership position, the Chief Data Officer will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive IT and data governance strategy aligned with CMAP's mission and future-state goals. The ideal candidate will ensure data, analytics, and artificial intelligence capabilities are developed in a coordinated, sustainable, and value-driven manner while leading cross-functional teams to design and deploy AI and data-driven solutions that support operational excellence, innovation, and strategic decision-making. Candidates with hands-on leadership experience and the ability to combine strategic oversight with sufficient technical depth to guide decision-making, evaluate solutions, and set standards to establish credibility, ensure quality, and drive consistent execution across initiatives are encouraged to apply. Specifically, CMAP is looking for a leader with, A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data science, or related field. A minimum of 10 years professional experience leading data and technical teams in a corporate or government environment. Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISA, PMP, ITIL, or similar) preferred. Hiring Range is $150,000-$225,000 This position will follow a hybrid work schedule, with in-office work at CMAP's Old Post Office location in Chicago, IL. CMAP is a mission-driven agency serving the 284 municipalities and 7 counties of northeastern Illinois as the region’s comprehensive planning organization.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data science, or related field.
