About The Position

The Chief Business Officer will serve as the company’s senior executive responsible for business development and strategic transactions. The Chief Business Officer will be a trusted strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, with deep experience in relationship building, defining BD strategy, driving pipeline value through BD initiatives, deal execution and high-stakes negotiations with global pharmaceutical partners and others in the biotech industry. Considering candidates based locally to Boston area hybrid or New England/New York based candidates willing to travel to Norwood, Ma at least one day per week. Open to fulltime employee role or fractional role.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in business development, corporate development, or strategy within biotech or pharmaceutical companies. Experience should include senior leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated success leading in-licensing, out-licensing, partnerships, and/or strategic M&A transactions and deep understanding of clinical development, regulatory pathways, and commercialization considerations.
  • Direct experience in oncology. Obesity/metabolic experience is a bonus.
  • Proven ability to engage at the CEO, Board, and C-suite level both internally and externally.
  • Strong financial and valuation expertise, with a track record of negotiating complex, high-value agreements.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, MBA) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the company’s business development strategy, aligned with clinical development priorities and pre-commercial objectives.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to determine optimal value-creation pathways for the pipeline
  • Lead all BD activities, working with Corbus’ Alliance Manager, as applicable.
  • Identify, engage, and cultivate relationships with senior executives at pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
  • Own and execute end-to-end BD operational activities, including:
  • Tracking strategic relationships and interactions
  • Identifying clear strategic fit with target partners
  • Data room preparation and due diligence leadership
  • Valuation and deal structuring
  • Negotiation of term sheets and definitive agreements
  • Prepare and present board-level strategic analyses, valuation frameworks, and transaction recommendations.
  • Evaluate external assets, platforms, or technologies that complement the company’s obesity and oncology programs.
  • Maintain real-time awareness of competitive landscape in obesity and oncology.
  • Demonstrate executive-level skill in influencing, aligning, and motivating stakeholders, using strong interpersonal judgment.
  • Active member of the senior leadership team.
