About The Position

DecisionPoint seeks a Chief Architect Lead to oversee the technical design, integration, and sustainment of a Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise modernization initiative supporting Casualty and Mortuary Affairs (CMA) operations across all military Services. The Chief Architect Lead will direct the development of enterprise architecture frameworks, data strategies, and integration roadmaps to ensure interoperability, scalability, and security across mission-critical systems. This role leads the translation of operational requirements into secure, modern, and sustainable architecture baselines that enable accurate information sharing, streamlined workflows, and improved decision-making across DoD and Service components. This position is fully remote. Note: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.

Requirements

  • Must hold an active Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in enterprise architecture design, system engineering, or solution architecture for large-scale federal or defense programs.
  • Proven success leading multi-system modernization or integration initiatives involving cloud, cybersecurity, and data management components.
  • Expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks (DoDAF, TOGAF, or equivalent).
  • Experience with cloud-based architectures (AWS, Azure Government, or similar) and microservices design patterns.
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps practices for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Deep understanding of DoD security, interoperability, and data standards, including NIST SP 800-53 and Zero Trust principles.
  • Experience designing systems that support mission-critical operations such as case management, logistics, or personnel data integration.
  • Exceptional technical leadership and team collaboration abilities.
  • Strong analytical and architectural modeling skills with attention to integration details.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Skilled in balancing innovation, compliance, and operational continuity.
  • Strategic thinker capable of aligning technical design with long-term mission goals.

Nice To Haves

  • TOGAF 9/10 Certified, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified Azure Architect Expert.
  • DoD 8570/8140 IAT or IAM certification (Security+ CE, CISSP, or CISM).
  • Lean Six Sigma or ITIL Foundation certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, documentation, and maintenance of the enterprise architecture baseline, defining system interfaces, data integration standards, and security alignment for all modernization activities.
  • Translate functional and operational requirements into logical and physical architecture designs, ensuring solutions align with DoD technical and cybersecurity policies.
  • Oversee technical design reviews, architectural modeling, and solution validation across all Task Areas — from concept and baseline development through deployment and sustainment.
  • Develop and manage the Architecture Framework, including principles, reference models, and technical standards for data exchange, application integration, and infrastructure optimization.
  • Coordinate with system engineers, developers, and cybersecurity leads to ensure consistent implementation of architectural principles and interface specifications.
  • Provide expert guidance on cloud migration, system interoperability, and data standardization, with emphasis on ensuring continuity of casualty, mortuary, and benefits operations.
  • Oversee configuration management and change control processes to maintain architectural integrity and traceability across evolving system capabilities.
  • Lead cross-functional design sessions with stakeholders from CMA and Service components (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps) to validate technical feasibility and system performance goals.
  • Support testing, deployment, and sustainment activities, ensuring architecture documentation reflects the current operational environment and integrates lessons learned.
  • Establish and monitor key technical performance indicators (KPIs) for architecture health, scalability, and security compliance.
  • Develop and maintain system diagrams, architecture artifacts, and integration documentation aligned with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) guidance.
  • Provide input into risk management processes, identifying architectural dependencies and mitigation strategies related to performance, interoperability, and cyber resilience.
