The chief advancement officer is an accomplished and self-driven philanthropy professional with a deep commitment to nonprofit excellence and mission-driven results. Working in close partnership with the president and CEO and the board of trustees, the CAO shapes the strategic direction of the advancement department and leads the team responsible for the organization's fundraising, marketing, and communications efforts. The CAO develops and executes a comprehensive annual fundraising plan; manages advancement department operations and staff; serves as a member of the senior leadership team; cultivates and stewards significant relationships with corporate and foundation partners; and manages a portfolio of major donors. The CAO contributes to the organizational strength by building and sustaining strong relationships with its base of constituents and is central to advancing the mission. The successful candidate will have a proven record of securing principal and major gifts, as well as cultivating and closing planned gift commitments.
