The Chevrolet Express Technician performs basic maintenance functions on vehicles. This role involves executing work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, adhering to dealership and factory standards. Key tasks include draining and refilling oil, replacing various filters (oil, air, dust), flushing systems, and performing other light service items. The technician is responsible for inspecting and replenishing vehicle fluid levels, checking and adjusting tire pressure, rotating tires, and lubricating moving parts. A crucial part of the role is performing multi-point vehicle inspections to ensure accuracy and estimating costs for any additional necessary repairs. The technician communicates with the Parts Department for needed components, reports machinery defects to the supervisor, and meticulously documents all repairs and maintenance using DMS systems. Additionally, the role requires performing state inspections, participating in manufacturer-sponsored training, staying updated on technical bulletins, and ensuring customer vehicles are kept clean. The technician must notify the Service Advisor immediately of any changes to a vehicle's appearance or condition, maintain a clean shop area, and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them in proper condition. Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know, is also essential, as is operating all tools and equipment safely.
