About The Position

CHEMISTRY TECHNICIAN – Plant Hatch Summary of Position Duties Join the Southern Nuclear team at Plant Hatch – a provider of clean, reliable nuclear energy for more than 50 years – located in Baxley, Ga., in Appling County along the Altamaha River. The area offers a rural mix, blending small‑town living with convenient regional access, making it a strong fit for families and young professionals alike. We currently have opportunities located at our Plant Hatch facility for Chemistry Technicians. As a Chemistry Technician, your expertise and training will play a critical role in minimizing impurity ingress to ensure component and system protection, maintaining fuel integrity, controlling the radiation field of the operating units, and will be critical to the initial testing and commercial operation of the new units. Through your efforts, Plant Hatch will continue to produce efficient and reliable power to serve Georgia’s residents.

Requirements

Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Physics or other Physical Science major or equivalent as determined by management; with BS degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, preferred. Any Physical Science major BS Degree other than a BS in Chemistry will require advanced Chemistry courses. In lieu of degree - Qualification as U.S. Navy Nuclear Engineering Laboratory Technician (ELT).
Three years nuclear power plant experience preferred.
One year laboratory experience preferred, which may include college laboratory experience.
Demonstrated commitment to safe laboratory practices.
Knowledge of laboratory analytical techniques and applied power plant water conditioning concepts.
Analytical instrumentation, make up demineralizers, ion exchange resin principles, chemical and physical properties.
Familiar with environmental sampling, methods, requirements and practices.
Working knowledge of computer software programs.
Excellent communication skills and working knowledge of safe work procedures.
Accountable for performance and results.
Superior teamwork including respect towards all co-workers.
Commitment towards achieving Plant Hatch’s business goals and desired business results.
Candidates must successfully pass the EEI Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH) test.
This position will require shift work which can include nights, weekends, and holidays.
This position is covered under a collective bargaining unit and will pay an hourly rate of $44.328.
